Home » Reader question » Reader question: Flying back to the Netherlands, how is that going on Suvarnabhumi?
Dear readers,
On July 2 I fly to the Netherlands with EVA Air at 12.30 pm. Since I have to come from Khon Kaen, I unfortunately have to leave a day earlier given the flight times of Thai smile. So on July 1. Thai smile now only operates 2 flights a day.
Does anyone have experience with how things are going on Suvarnabhumi right now? Are there more rules than checking temperature, face mask and hand gel? And do you currently spend a lot of time on passport control, etc.?
I would also like to get a tip for a not too expensive (<1000 Bath), but good hotel near the airport, who would also like to take me there. Obviously a hotel, which is now open.
Thanks in advance for your responses!
Regards,
Lonnie
You can download a self-completed statement from the EVA site. Face masks are mandatory at the airport, nothing else. Cheap hotel look at booking.nl
cheap hotel cq resort is nest boutique resort. Have own shuttle. booking through agoda. next to it are 3 other hotels resorts with 1 name (subvarnahbumi oriental resort, airy resort, sunny residence) is actually 1 building but 3 different names and 1 owner).
Previously slept in bkk altid on airy. Switched to nest boutique. friendlier staff and cheapest..
just check in at subvarnahbumi. As a Dutchman from bkk to amsterdam directly you don't need ANYTHING else. OH sorry a face mask
Sunday, May 31 brought a friend to the airport at 19.30 pm his departure was 23.15 pm with KLM, according to him there were only 40 passengers from bkk. Plane came from Manila and was packed full.
It seems that mnl and bkk were used as hub stations.
Furthermore, everything to pier E was closed. on the corner 3 places for food and drinks open. otherwise a dark whole.
passport and check-in went via the fast lane (priority) so not via the top
I always stay at The Cottage Suvarnabhumi is within walking distance of Robinson Lifestyle and The Paseo Community Mall, which has restaurants, shops and banks. The property is a 10-minute drive from Airport Link Lat Krabang Station. An airport shuttle service is available at a surcharge.Nice room and good service and with swimming pool good luck and pleasant journey back.
Now that the situation seems to be normalizing, you might consider taking a taxi to Bangkok.
All in all, that won't take that much longer than by plane.
Then you can adjust the departure time from home to the time of your flight.
I assume that taxis can drive to Bangkok again, but the taxi company knows that.
if all goes well you can just take the VIP bus. i'm not 100% sure but take a look at nakonchai air.
I think you can even consider bussing them via Pattaya.
https://www2.nakhonchaiair.com/view/
set english language. So after checking khon kaen bangkok satt on the routing.
VIP bus 3 seats in a row. packed lunch, free wifi, airplane seats with their own display and games, etc.
Toilet and steward(ess) on board
Indeed Ruud,
This is good advice.
If you fly, you won't be in Suvarnabhum until 10.40 AM, and you won't be able to pick up your suitcase and check in. It would be possible without checked baggage.
Go by taxi:
You can leave Khon Kaen at 3AM, then you will be at the airport around 9AM and have time left to check in at your leisure.
And no stress. Price won't vary much.
When you are at the airport, go to the 2nd floor meating point, say that you want to go to the Phoenix hotel, you will be picked up here for free, the Phoenix is not expensive, but it is better to book it in advance.
run. The next morning take the free shuttle bus to the airport, at 8 am is fine. Is 10 minutes.
Taxi from Khon Kaen also seems like a good idea.
An alternative is a simple family hotel 12 km from the airport (15 to 30 minutes by taxi). You can request a taxi for free at the reception. Older hotel but well maintained. Air conditioners noisy in most rooms. Cheap local food within a 5-minute walk, and with a beautiful park with lake at the back of the hotel.
Anecdote... Once things went wrong and the requested taxi did not arrive. A young guy was rushed onto the road on a bicycle. Perhaps to have an available taxi stop at a busy intersection. We were able to leave in just a few minutes with the advanced taxi.
Sorry, hotel name is Suphan Lake Hometel.
A good cheap hotel is the Regent hotel
Dear people,
thank you all for your help by responding.
Regards, Lonnie
I have a flight with Eva on July 2nd. Was supposed to go home April 30th. Now I read again that flight of July 9 has been canceled ??. As long as we officially hear nothing from the Thai government, we will continue to speculate. Wait and see, but I still have to see if we can leave !!
I may be wrong, but I think EVA Air will not fly from BKK to AMS on Thursday July 2 at 12:30 PM.
According to their App and their website, in July they only fly non-stop from BKK to AMS on Saturdays 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 12:30 PM. On Momondo I only saw a China Airlines combined flight via Taipei for Thursday, July 2.
I myself traveled with KLM from BKK to AMS on May 29 at 23:50.
Suvarnabhumi was very empty. Face mask required. Also on the plane, otherwise you will not be allowed.
Your temperature is taken. Filling in a questionnaire is not required if you are traveling from a Thai airport, as Thailand is not a high-risk country.
Dropped off my luggage at about nine o'clock in the evening and picked up my boarding pass. At that time I was the only one.
Then to the food court (open 24/7) on level 1 (FL1) for some food.
Boarding started at 23:05 PM.
At 22:55-23:00 I said goodbye to my girlfriend and took the escalator up where I was the only one to go through the paranoia department. Then on and down again for passport control at the immigration office where I was the only person again. Then quickly through the desolate corridors to gate E5.
Within 20 minutes of saying goodbye I was on the plane waiting to get to my seat.
It also went smoothly at Schiphol. Within 40 minutes of the touch-down I was outside with my bags.
EVA has recently emphatically confirmed the July 2nd flight and sent me a ticket, so I will assume for the time being that things will go ahead.
When I now log in with my details on the EVA website, I still see 'confirmed' with my ticket. We'll see……… Could it also be that the flight is no longer bookable because it is packed with rebooked returning travelers?
Could be. But then all flights in July, except for Saturdays, would already be completely sold out.
The flights of 4, 6, 8, 11,13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 August can still be booked.
I expect things to go smoothly as we are about to leave the country; me too on july 2. Check booking.com for a cheap hotel near Suvarnabhum. Good luck
