Reader question: Back from Thailand to the Netherlands
Dear readers,
My wife and daughter (2 years old) want to fly back to the Netherlands again this month, I know that of course a PCR test is needed and that she has to be quarantined when they get here again. My question is whether there are readers who have experience in which a wife or family or themselves have flown back to the Netherlands?
KLM flies. Where can you get a PCR test valid for KLM? Or can you locally obtain a PCR test that meets the requirements?
I ask for this because during the outward journey at the check-in counter some other Thai people also checked in who submitted different documents, confusing the flight attendants and customers.
I look forward to your experiences.
Regards,
Maarten

Hello Martin
Maybe this will help you in terms of type of test
Requirements NAAT (PCR) test upon departure to the Netherlands
And this link for further conditions
https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/coronavirus-covid-19/nederland-inreizen/checklist-inreizen-nederland
For KLM I found a link for travelers who want to travel with KLM from Japan to the Netherlands. In that link you will find exactly which type of tests KLM accepts. The same requirements for Thai travelers to the Netherlands
https://www.klm.com/travel/jp_en/prepare_for_travel/up_to_date/coronavirus.htm
Where in Thailand someone can currently get a PCR test remains a guess. Google this search option
pcr test bangkok for travel abroad
Do your wife and daughter have the Dutch nationality? Then you don't need anything, I think. Because on July 17th I (Dutchman) flew with KLM to AMS and although I had a PCR test done in their Bangkok Pattaya Hospital just to be sure, but neither KLM nor the Marechaussee at Schiphol wanted to see that document! (3800 Baht wasted money so...) and I also didn't have to quarantine!
But if your wife and daughter have Thai nationality, there may be other requirements. The best thing to do is ask KLM. Success with it.
Dutch nationality was not required, only a valid residence permit.
However, the above kite no longer applies since Thailand has recently been removed from the green list.
So PCR test and the like are indeed necessary (or have already been tested twice if I'm not mistaken
My wife has an mvv and has been back and forth a few times, daughter has 2 passports, namely...
I am flying back to Amsterdam with KLM on August 6. Information can be found at https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/coronavirus-covid-19/nederland-inreizen/eu-inreisverbod/uitzonderingen
Thailand is orange except for a few southern provinces. In any case, Thailand has not yet been classified as a high-risk country.
Your wife and daughter fall under this exception with regard to the corona rules that have been copied from the above link.
If you are a resident of a country that is not on the list of safe countries and you are fully vaccinated, you can be exempted from the EU entry ban. You may enter the Netherlands if you can demonstrate with proof of vaccination that you have been fully vaccinated with a vaccine that has been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).
I have been double vaccinated myself, but my 2nd shot was astrazenica from Thai production Siam Bioscience and it has just been approved by EMA. This means that I still have to have a negative PCR test. As the embassy previously reported, the negative PCR test from August 8 may not have been taken longer than 48 hours before the departure time of the aircraft.
Thais who have been fully vaccinated with Covax can enter the Netherlands without a test, because it has been approved by the EMA. I think I have read that children up to 2 years old are exempt from a test certificate, but I cannot find that quickly.
You do not have to be quarantined in the Netherlands.
KLM does not require a negative test if you have been fully vaccinated according to the rules, otherwise it does. KLM asks that you upload your documents to them from 48 hours in advance, so that they can warn you if something is not right and problems at the desk can be avoided. Just got an email from them.
Dear Martin,
Soon I will fly back to the Netherlands myself. I think the following links might help you.
Book a Covid test (it's best to approach them on the line app for questions I think):
http://www.medex.co.th/pc
Requirements that the test document must meet (if all is well, the MedEx (from link above) document meets this, I asked them):
https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/coronavirus-covid-19/nederland-inreizen/testbewijs-voor-inreizen-nederland/verplichte-gegevens
The checklist for flying to the Netherlands:
https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/coronavirus-covid-19/nederland-inreizen/checklist-inreizen-nederland
Good luck hope it works!
Regards
Thanks for the responses, let's get started

Hello.
July 21 I flew back with KLM from Suvarnabumi Bangkok. I'm vaccinated and didn't need anything except face masks. At Schiphol, nothing was asked at all.

I am flying back with emirates on Saturday.
When I look at the website of the national government, I see that an antigen test is also allowed. I scheduled it at Be well in hua hin for 1500 Barth.
At VFS-Global, they offer RT-PCR tests with explanations for prices starting at ฿2500.
I assume that they only do business with test providers that meet the requirements that the Netherlands sets for a statement.
