Reader Question: Taxi from Bangkok Airport to Ao Manao
Dear readers,
Who can tell us the cost of a taxi to travel from Bangkok airport to Ao Manao?
Because we land with Eva Air at 3 am, we have to wait until 5 am for the VIP bus from BKK to Hua Hin to leave. From Hua Hin should we take a taxi to Ao Manao (80 kilometers south)?
And where can we best order the taxi?
Thank you.
With kind regards,
Gonnie
Count on about 10 baht per km. You can still try to haggle on that
dear gonnie
from Bangkok airport we have been transported for years by Thai-Call-Taxi google to this site.
1 month in advance are always waiting exactly on time at exit 3 with your name on the board.
you only pay at the destination, price Hua-Hin 1900 bath (45 euros) sedan car
dear gonny,
If you land at 3:XNUMX AM, that doesn't mean you've gone through customs with your luggage.
This usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes. After that you have to go to the bus station south. At that time in the morning it takes about 45 minutes in a taxi. So you don't have much time left. Don't forget that it is Thailand where things are a bit different and slower than in the Netherlands.
In Hua Hin you can get to the destination with a large or minibus at the clocktower.
A tip…. If you go by minibus buy an extra place for your luggage. You don't have to leave it for the money and you travel much more comfortably. Have fun and stay healthy.
Dear Hans,
From my own experience I can tell you that it is of little or no use to order an extra place for your luggage, if there are too many passengers, your luggage just goes on the roof and a person on the seat reserved for your luggage, if you are lucky you will get the money for that extra seat back with a lot of pleas, but watch out for the words of luck and pleas.
Firstly, they prefer to have as little luggage as possible in the passenger compartment.
Second; They prefer to cram those vans as full as possible with people, because at the destination they receive a commission from the booked accommodation per transported person, especially if the person books at the end point of the van, or even better for the driver, if he can accommodate a guest with family or friends.
I have experienced; a couple on the bus from Krabi to Lanta, 2 adults and a small child, about 2 years old, with their own paid seat, 1 more passenger had to go so the child had to sit on their lap, high on a fight, but the end of the story was that the child was taken on the lap, the extra passenger on the child's seat and no refund for the seat reserved for the child, after all, he was riding along (Thai logic) the driver refused to leave and also refuse to leave before the child sat on your lap and the last adult passenger had their own seat.
Note: In the Netherlands you cannot buy a ticket (bus or train) for your suitcase so that no one will sit next to you
Yours faithfully,
Lex K.
I agree with Hans van der Leeuw in that you already need a lot of time (can sometimes go a little faster) with getting out, walking through the airport to passport control, where you can sometimes wait half an hour, you pick up your suitcase, wait there again and then to the bus.
Hans may not know, may have forgotten, or may not have read carefully, that you meant the VIP bus to Hua Hin. You'll have about an hour left by the time you get there.
Now I don't know if you arrive in the morning or in the afternoon…
The bus costs about 305 baht per person. That is already 610 baht. The taxi from Hua Hin to Ao Manao will also cost around 700 to 800 baht. Then you are already at about 1400 Baht.
When you take a normal taxi from the airport to Hua Hin, it costs 2000-2500 baht. I'm sure you can trade with the price if you drive on to Ao Manao and it won't really come out much more expensive. For that you have the convenience of not having to transfer.
But you have time: go to the taxi stand and see what they charge for prices and if you agree, take the taxi, if not, you can still take the VIP bus.
You now have the advantage of having time. You don't have to run to the bus, but the option is open.
Dear Gonny,
if you land at 3 o'clock in BKK, waiting until 5 o'clock is not that long at all ... quietly from the arrival gate to customs and the exit (after all, you're on vacation) and you'll soon be an hour further. Furthermore, I would say that 1900Baht by taxi from BKK to your destination is not by the way.
I can tell you that there is currently a shuttle service from BKK to Hua Hin. Try to get info on that.
Regards,
Lung addie
I would take a taxi at the airport. Is neatly arranged nowadays, on the 1st floor (you will automatically see the signs with TAXI when you enter the arrivals hall), so 1 floor is waiting outside the taxis, goes through some counters where ladies give you a piece of paper with stamp and taxi number. You can just ask for the price there, prices are fixed and this is usually in the taxi on the back of the front seats. NB: taxi prices will go up by about 10 percent in December this year, by the way!
Compared to the Netherlands, the taxi is really cheap, for your distance to Hua Hin I pay the same amount from Schiphol to the center of Amsterdam!
Dear Vienna,
Thank you very much for your targeted information.
Good tip, Thai Call Taxi decent price. (4000 Bath)
Regards,
Connie.
