Dear readers,

My sister is in hospice with lung cancer and wants to say goodbye to me. So I want to go to the Netherlands and the questions are these:

  • What do I have to do and bring or show to obtain a re-entry permit at Immigration Jomtien?
  • What are the costs?
  • Do I have to specify a departure and return date?

Passport and retirement extension are valid until April 2, 2018.

I am 80 years old and does the airline ask for a health certificate or a doctor's statement that I am able to travel by plane?

Thanks in advance for any. answers.

Regards,

TheoS

    Don't panic Theo,

When you come back you will automatically receive a 30-day tourist visa, then you can easily get a multivisa. And if you can just board a plane independently, no airline will require an inspection.

Travel with Eva Air, they have a lot of cabin crew and generous seats.
Perhaps a little more expensive, but much more comfortable, after all, it is an 11-hour seat.

    Good luck Gerrit

Gerrit, Theo has a retirement visa and doesn't want to lose it.
He prevents that by buying a Re-Entry.
So Theo has no use for a tourist visa for 30 days upon return to Thailand.
What is a multivisa that Theo can go and get at his leisure after obtaining a tourist visa?

    Dear Theo,

in Jomtien you pay 1000 Baht. Complete the relevant form and submit a passport photo.
At the airport it is also possible 24 hours a day at the Immigration re-entry desk.
Costs 1200 Baht, but you will be treated well. Do check in first, screen your luggage
and on to the Immigration passport counter. Before that you can first go to the re-entry desk.

    Regards,

    John

I would say: ask the immigration in your own place of residence, for example Jomtien. And for flying: how about asking that question to an airline?
By the way: my own experience: no one has ever asked ME for my reasons why I want to leave Thailand temporarily. Simply: fill in the form, then pay 1000 THB and stamp it.
For my own health to make an escape: I would not let that depend on any society's wishes, but MYSELF, for my own peace of mind, would visit a doctor. Depending on trips to TH, I personally go to the Thai hospital every 2 to 3 years for a 'Medical MOT', whatever my Dutch GP may think of it. (Thai Nakarin approx THB 11.500)

Theo S, I cannot answer your questions with certainty, anyone else who knows for sure and precisely is invited to correct me, given the urgency you will have, I will try.
What do I have to do and bring or show to obtain a re-entry permit at Immigration Jomtien? I think your passport with the extension of your period of stay until April 2, 2018.
What are the costs? I think 1.900 bath for a Single Re-Entry and 3.500 bath for a Multiple Entry.
The period that your Re-Entry will be valid will in any case be until April 2, 2018, perhaps 1 year, but think the former.
Do I have to specify a departure and return date? No, please hand in the TM 30 form after your return.
Passport and retirement extension are valid until April 2, 2018. Make sure you are back in Thailand in time to do your extension.
Check with immigration to be sure.
I am 80 years old and does the airline ask for a health certificate or a doctor's statement that I am able to travel by plane? I have not heard this before, you will only be refused if there is a clear expectation of dependency or complications during a flight. Please check with the ticket seller.
We wish you the best of luck during your sensitive visit to your sister and hope that you will be in time to say goodbye.
    Success and strength.
    Nico B

Hello dear man You need 2 passport photos, fill in the form, pay 1000 baht and you're done, good luck with the journey back to your sister.

Relax, dear man! You only need to apply for a re-entry permit at the Immigration in Jomtien and you can even do that at Suvannabumi airport, fill in a form and no one checks the departure and return date. How much is it? I seem to remember 1000 B. or was it 1500 B? Mai Pen Rai!
Anyway, good luck and have a good trip!

You don't need anything costs per re-entry are Bath 1900,-. You do not have to enter any data of the way/back.
Go to immigration early as it is very busy.

    • Cornelis says up

      Incorrect, a 're-entry permit' costs 1000 baht.

    Dear Theo,
Jacob is right, all the other comments I read here are just wrong or fabricated:
re-entry: will cost you 1000 Baht. No more. You can go to your immigration office the day before with two passport photos, fill in the relevant form and you don't need a reason.
You can also get that at the airport, I also got it there for 1000 baht last year.
When you return to Thailand you have to go to the immigration office (preferably as soon as possible after arrival, but don't worry, waiting a day or two is no problem). Then you will receive a new extension until the next term when you have to report for the 90-day stamp again.

That's all there is to it. You also do not have to ask the airline for permission whether you can fly or not. If you are disabled yourself, please indicate this, because people with disabilities are often allowed to board the plane earlier.

If you are going to get your re-entry visa at the airport in Suvarnabhumi, you will show your form at passport control. You will then be taken to a room where two officials will edit the form. That takes a bit long, about fifteen minutes, and then you can go on your way to your plane. You also pay in that room.

If you click on this link, you can download and print the form: https://www.thai888.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/form_tm8_2017.pdf
If necessary, go to a printing service and have it printed there (if you live far from your immigration office).

I wish you luck with your sister! Nevertheless, have a good trip.

Sorry, I expressed myself badly: I can't say you can get the form at the airport, rather get it at Immigration or print it out yourself. What you can get at the airport is the processing and permission to leave the country and come back without jeopardizing your retirement visa.

Dear Sjaak S, I printed out the form right away. Thank you for the link.

What a display here. Eleven responses, which are also not unanimous. How is it possible!

Getting exit/reentry at Immigration. Fill in the appropriate form and passport photo. The departure and return dates are requested, with return being requested as “approximately”.

    Cost: TBH 1.000.

Airline does not ask about health. My mother, who was 84 years old at the time, vlogged without any problems.

Good luck and strength and don't be fooled. This is the real story.

Hello, I have an “O” Multiple visa for Thailand. In 2012 I urgently had to go to Belgium for one week.
    Departed July 17, 2012 and returned July 26, 2012.
No need to fill in a piece of paper, nor have to pay 1000 bath.
Don't give any explanation to anyone.
In the end, urgent arrival turned out not to be so urgent.

    Greetings Dre

Thank you very much everyone for the good advice. I print out all responses so that I have them to hand if needed. I hope to be on time. Again, many thanks.
