Reader question: Bad internet connection with TOT
Dear readers,
Since a few months we have internet from TOT. I have not opted for the cheapest connection and pay 524 Baht per month. I am not satisfied because the connection during the day is very bad. I wonder if I'm the only one?
I recently heard that 3BB delivers better quality for 700 baht. Does anyone have experience with 3BB?
I live in Muang Yao – Hang Chat Lampang.
I would like to hear experiences with the internet in Thailand.
Regards,
Jacks
I have had 3BB for several years and I am really VERY satisfied with it. Originally it was a copper line (150m) and that went very well. In 1918 I was informed that I could have fiber installed for free at the same price, which of course I accepted. That runs like a train, no interruptions, nothing…. I pay once a year and this comes to about 700THB/m. Router for local WIFI also supplied free of charge. The old copper line of 150m is still there…. yes TIT….
Hi Lung Addie. Just a small correction to a typo. In 1918 I received a message and that is unfortunately not possible. You haven't been in Thailand that long and you're not that old either. MVG Rob
@Rob,
haha ha…. yes that was a miss that 1918…. had to be 2018 of course…. and, luckily I'm not that old yet because that would be very old….Yes, on January 1, a person sometimes makes a slip on the keyboard…. greetings and hpny 2020.
I have TOT and am very satisfied. I have both internet (200/200) and digital TV. Both perfect. Take good quality cables because that saves everything. Oh yes, wifi also perfect.
Have ever had TOT: terribly bad. Also bad customer service, waiting 45 minutes and sometimes the connection was also broken… call again. Now 3BB, much better on all counts!
Jack, I have no idea what speed you pay for, but for 524 Thb you will not get a great fast internet connection, I think that is the cheapest version that TOT offers. We have had internet from TOT for years and are very satisfied, we pay 749 Thb per month and receive 200Mb Download and 200 Mb Upload via a fiber optic cable. Even if we do the speed test via another provider, we get a very good internet connection. Maybe talk to TOT and take out another subscription, probably better than being annoyed by the eternal wheel when something has to be brought in excruciatingly slow. Good luck.
I've had 3BB for a year now and I'm super satisfied, good connection, excellent service. Simply hassle-free,
Tomorrow I will pay again for 1 year about 7700 Thaibaht for 1 year.
I've had 3BB for years. Satisfied for several months. Computer use (WIFI) became increasingly slow. Phone ok, but when it really came down to speed, due to the use of a black box for TV over the internet, the delay and loss of connections was dramatic. I could see that the actual internet speed was ridiculous. Expensive cabling installed no improvement.
Contract with 3BB not renewed and now have True. Don't have anything to complain about now. Excellent Premier League reception at weekends. It is more expensive than internet and TV from 3BB, about 200 bht per month, but it is definitely worth it. I should have done it much sooner, then I wouldn't have had the annoyance of a bad TV for so long. You can live with the quality of 3BB only for computer and telephone.
Perhaps location also plays a role. I live in pattaya.
I also have a TOT connection in my house in Pattaya and this costs 865 baht per month. Since 2 years also via fiber optic cable and almost every day there is a moment that the internet is lost. Usually short term and when this starts I usually turn off the computer and restart and it generally gets better. Now I'm in no hurry in my old age and I adapt and then it stays good. I don't feel like changing providers and I'm at peace with this. So great 98% of the time.
Now have 18 months UNTIL first half year in khanom
and now fiber optic in Cha am for a year. Works fine and never
issues.
I also had TOT a few years ago which was so bad that it gave up every once in a while. Switched to True and same song. Service was so bad that no one showed up to yet another Internet meltdown. Three days without Internet and called 18 times. After sending an e-mail that I would no longer pay my bill, someone finally came and fixed everything in half an hour. I also demanded a 3 day discount on my bill which I received after even more threats of non-payment. Now I have 3bb fiber and so far, apart from approx. 3 0f 4 collapses, I am quite satisfied.
use 3bb for years is fine with fiber optic cable is installed by 3bb icl. modem free.
NLTV very good
I've had TOT for years and I have to say in the very beginning about 6 years ago there was sometimes a glitch
what on.
But since 5 years my internet or WiFi works fine and if I already have a malfunction they are really inside
the hour with a car with me, of course arranged by my darling!
Like Henk, I pay 749.– Bath per month, so I would say take a slightly more expensive subscription
and you're out of trouble.
