Dear readers,

A Thai friend is on holiday here and stayed with a friend in Roosendaal who also acts as guarantor (now here with us). After an argument, she secretly copied the data and rebooked her plane ticket without her knowledge from October 5 to next week September 3.

I don't think this is allowed and how can I reverse this. Is this a criminal offense or not?

Regards,

Hein

If the ticket has been booked and paid for by that Thai girlfriend who was the guarantor, there is little you can do about it.

  2. wibart says up

Bit of a messy story. Who owns the ticket. Who changed the data. Changing the ticket date costs money. Who paid for that then? In short, too much unclear in your story.

  3. Steven says up

Strange that you can't come up with the idea to call the airline and arrange it yourself?
Punishable? No, civil case seems to me (I'm not a lawyer), if it costs money, you should tell that to the prankster.

So if I have understood correctly, the Thai lady has a fight with her friend, who acted as guarantor for her and with whom she was staying. Now she is staying with you, but she wants to return to Thailand earlier and not wait another month and she has rebooked her ticket for that. What is against that and let alone criminal? Just wise of her not to stay here any longer if her purpose of travel, to spend a nice time with her girlfriend in the Netherlands, has fallen apart. Sad for the girlfriend in the Netherlands, but guaranteeing and probably having paid for the plane ticket, of course does not imply that the Thai lady could not go back when she wanted to.

The visiting person simply wants to fly back on October 5, if this was initially stated on her ticket.
The guarantor of this friend, because she had a copy of her booking, had the date of this return trip changed behind her back.
With the flight code and her last name you will be on the site “my bookings” where anyone with this known data can make changes in your name.

        Dear John Chiang rai,

You are not allowed to book a ticket in someone else's name just like that!
        This is punishable!

This woman is responsible for her ticket.
If someone else changes her ticket, she should be notified by the airline.
This woman may be in charge, but is clearly in violation of this.

Will be nice', when I go to visit a friend and he changes my ticket to give me one
        chop.

If only this woman shouldn't have invited her.

Even if someone looks inside with a telescope and reads private data about you
to put a chop then the turnips are cooked.

This woman may have paid in her name, but that is not significant.
        Yours faithfully,

        Erwin

PS Everything was done mobile, so this woman also has to make a statement.

        • John Chiang Rai says up

Dear Erwin Fleur, If you read my comments carefully again, you would see that I have not written anywhere that this is not punishable.
The problem, however, is that the ticket holder was careless with the details of her personal ticket.
A carelessness that most likely took place when friendship still reigned between the two parties and mutual trust was still high.
The ticket holder named on the ticket must now prove that a third person, and not them, has intended this change.
A change that, if the Code and the surname are known, can be changed by anyone on the site in question, without it being provably clear who changed it.
A bookings code also serves as protection, which only the ticket holder can refer to on the relevant booking (site).
How can an airline warn, when it can normally assume, that only the ticket holder with her Code can make these changes?
It should be a warning to everyone to be careful with such data.
The only option for the ticket holder is now to contact the airline to make a correction.

          • Erwin Fleur says up

            Dear John Chiang rai,

It is quite true, but I have not made any accusations about this.
It's strange, very strange that someone would do this.

Then you stand there and someone has changed the ticket!!.
Then the bells will ring (555).

My experience is what I write down and not taken out of thin air.
            So be warned indeed!

            Yours faithfully,

            Erwin

  5. What's the problem? If a Thai is here on vacation and is not having a good time (quarrel) will you work against her? Let her go back to Thailand. Or is it just about counteracting?

    • John Chiang Rai says up

Dear Peter, It is indeed a bit confusingly written, but if the visit itself had to fly earlier because of this quarrel, it would not have been a problem at all and would not have been worthy of mention.
The problem is that she has to go back earlier against her will, because of her friend.

    • Rob V says up

I read that Hein takes care of a friend who got into a fight at her guest address. Last week Hein asked whether a guarantor/accommodation can be withdrawn (then it was about a friend, now about a friend who wants the lady/guest gone). This guest is now in the Hein & partner house and the original host has secretly brought forward the return flight.

If the original host purchased the ticket at the time, he or she will also have the information to adjust the ticket. I don't think there's much you can do about it. Although Hein also talks about 'secretly', so perhaps the Thai stranger bought the ticket himself and someone pretended to be her. Of course that's not possible.

Anyway, I would contact the airline or travel agency that arranged the ticket and ticket adjustment, explain the story there and see what you can do. In the worst case, the lady does not return earlier and Hein's family buys a one-way ticket back to Thailand for the date that guest had in mind.

Criminal or not, who can say
She is now in the Netherlands and it costs you extra but you just don't let them fly and you book one way planned date.
Her visa remains valid and no one will investigate that as long as you maintain her.

    • rori says up

If that is the problem, book with Euroweings directly or via D-travel. Low prices on a Tuesday or Wednesday

  7. RonnyLatYa says up

The story is indeed quite obscure.
I understand that because of that argument, the guarantor has changed the ticket to September so that she has to return earlier.

  8. KhunKoen says up

So she wants to go back sooner if I understand correctly.
It seems to me that she is free to do so, however you like it.

  9. TvdM says up

I think the problem is not clearly described and gives unclear responses. My explanation of the question is that the guarantor has rebooked the ticket in order to get the visiting lady out of the country as quickly as possible. This means that I think “Tak's” answer is the correct one, and Steven also gives a useful tip.

    • Leo Th. says up

TvdM, your interpretation actually sounds more plausible than I understood it myself in the 1st instance. The question arises who paid for the ticket, the guarantor or the Thai lady herself? And why did the quarrel arise, perhaps love affairs? Where does Hein, the questioner, know the Thai lady from? You can think differently about it, but the guarantor will have had her reasons for coming to this decision.

      • John Chiang Rai says up

Dear Leo Th. It is not important at all who paid for the ticket, or why this quarrel arose.
The ticket is written out in the name of the passenger, who has probably also booked it there before she has been to the consulate for her visa in Bangkok.
Only this passenger is the owner of the ticket and must ensure that the data with the booking code does not fall into the wrong hands.
The fact that the flight date has changed, because the girlfriend (guarantor) happens to have the Code by means of a Copy, is actually the only problem.
Before the quarrel, she definitely had a basis of trust with her friend (guarantor), who has now ensured that she too could make changes to this booking.
Anyone careless with a Bookings Code can be visited by someone else on the site "My Bookings" who makes unwanted changes.

  10. John Chiang Rai says up

Many people are very reckless with their booking papers.
Even if you throw away a copy of the booking, you should always make sure that the booking Code cannot fall into the wrong hands.
Any person with this Code and the visible surname can access your booking details via the Internet and make changes in your name at his will.
The only thing you can do now is to contact the airline and make sure that you get a correction, usually for a fee.
A booking Code is something personal, which you have to handle very carefully.

  11. Jacques says up

What a hassle again, she's not the first to cause problems and won't be the last I'm afraid. The guarantor apparently has problems with her “girlfriend” and wants to get rid of her as soon as possible. Probably because she thinks that a longer stay will cost her money or can get her into trouble, because the lady in question does not keep to the agreements. In fact, she should immediately report to the authorities that things are not going well, possibly that this lady wants to "work" and is not provided with a visa for this. The moment this lady has a maximum stay of 3 months as a tourist, this right lapses as soon as she starts working or demonstrates that she will start working. From that moment on she is therefore illegal (unlawful) in the Netherlands. She can report her to the aliens police if she does not go back herself. Then there is pressure from that side in the event of illegal residence. If she leaves the police out, she can try to get her out herself and she will also be rid of this problem if she responds to it. The risk, danger, lies in the possibility of going into hiding and there have been many examples of that. Yes, sometimes you can be mistaken about the person and other interests appear to be at play. The temptation to go to work is one of them.

    • Rob V says up

Speculating about how, who and why there is a quarrel does not seem really relevant to Hein's question. That is: what can we do about the fact that the return flight has secretly been brought forward - against the wishes of the foreigner-.

If the foreign national complies with the law (leaving the Netherlands on time, not working, no criminal practices, etc.), it is of no further importance to us who is to blame for the quarrel. I can think of a few scenarios where the referent is at fault if the only mistake is or both parties have blown things up.

    • david h. says up

The reverse could also be the case in this, namely that the "job offer" is not as proposed, examples of "job sponsorship" with nice words but gray reality everywhere, not only specifically in the Netherlands but internationally.

That's why OP ws. remained rather vague with post

  12. thea says up

It is so far clear that the holiday maker does not want to return sooner, but the lady who stands surety here in the Netherlands.
It is strange that you can book the return trip so easily with a copy, I think that if you call the airline they will find out that they have acted wrong and it can be reversed and the costs will be recovered from the lady who changed it through a copy.
But perhaps the police can provide information about such matters.

  13. support says up

In my opinion, the person who has booked the ticket (and therefore paid) can also change this ticket. So if the girlfriend from Roosendaal has paid and booked, she can change this. If she then does not ensure that the visiting girlfriend actually leaves on an early date, the ticket will expire.
In that case, the visiting friend will have to arrange a one-way trip herself before the expiry date of her visa.

If the visiting girlfriend has booked and paid for herself (whether or not with money borrowed/received from the girlfriend in Roosendaal), the visiting girlfriend can – if Flyme permits – change the return flight at any time.

In both cases there are no “criminal offenses” and it is also impossible to stop the visiting girlfriend.

Please state the problem more clearly.

  14. Steven says up

    In addition:

The questioner Hein therefore means that the Thai residing in the Netherlands guarantees the 'holiday Thai'. The first Thai has now secretly changed the return journey of the 'holiday Thai' from October to September.

Suppose the first Thai has paid for the ticket, then I suspect that the ticket can be seen as a gift, which is therefore the property of the second Thai. Her name is on the ticket anyway. If the second Thai has paid for her ticket herself, then it is completely clear who has all the rights. (or Hein? Is it THE girlfriend of Hein? I suspect not).
    .
Now there is this problem: the first Thai apparently wants to get rid of the second, so she no longer wants to give her shelter. Can she also withdraw the guarantor? No, that is not possible, according to this message from IND:
    https://twitter.com/ind_nl/status/568063068363759617?lang=nl

So arrange another accommodation, call the airline and reverse the rebooking (paying any costs). Then reclaim those costs from the first Thai (who caused damage to the second). If he doesn't want to pay, forget it, because "whoever litigates for a cow, puts 1 on it".

  15. Steven says up

Another addition: The change will have been made by telephone? This is almost certainly set by the airline. Based on the difference in vote between Thai 1 and 2, the airline may want to see that this is a 'joke' and perhaps not charge a fee. A hassle for the airline…

    • John Chiang Rai says up

Dear Steven, You can go to the “My Bookings” site with any airline and make any changes you like with the bookings code and the last name of the passenger.
Moreover, with this advance you can usually also influence the seat, meal and luggage wishes.
If such a thing could also be done by telephone without a Code, then nothing in this world would be certain in all passenger affairs.

  16. Frank says up

As I read, the Dutch girlfriend rebooked the return trip to an earlier date because they had an argument. The NL girlfriend is liable and therefore wants her to leave. Surely she can't be held responsible because she's now living with someone else? I think it is very normal, and if you take responsibility for her stay + any costs covered, including ticket changes, this will have to be arranged first. The Dutch girlfriend is not interested in this and certainly does not want to be charged! Happiness seekers work the same way, although I wouldn't say it is the case here. It's best to simply return after her disappointing trip.

  17. jurjen says up

    Hey,
you can still just make another change with the airline, and then set it back to 5 October.

  18. Mary. says up

I think the girlfriend doesn't like that jim took her in. And that's why she secretly changed her return journey. If jin still wants her to stay I would buy a ticket for her. I would think the girlfriend where she had a fight with him he checked it. And paid the change for nothing because that will undoubtedly have to be paid for. I would think nice and puh. But that is of course your choice.

  19. rori says up

If I understand correctly, just buy a new ticket for the “new” girlfriend or return the “old” one for 50 Euro.

    Otherwise new ticket:
october 1 dusseldorf bangkok a 281 euros one way with Eurowings can be booked via eurowings or d-travel
With 23 kilos of luggage 341 euros
october 5 dusseldorf bangkok a 281 euros one way with Eurowings can be booked via eurowings or d-travel
with 23 kilos of luggage 341 euros.

Does the “girlfriend” have a visa that allows a later departure date, take a look around the latest date
Can you enjoy even longer and pull a long nose.
Old "girlfriend" cannot declare the visa invalid, only the IND does that and not just like that.

  20. Jeroen says up

Hein.. the guest fold seems to me to be responsible for the stranger. After all, she guarantees. If the stranger now lives in your house without her permission, the hostess can even report the kidnapping to the police. That is punishable. So let it go on Sept 3..before you get into trouble with that..

    • Rob V says up

The guarantee remains, but accommodation has expired. The foreigner can easily find private or commercial accommodation elsewhere. That is voluntary and therefore not a violation, kidnapping or the like.
