Dear readers,

We leave from Zaventem to Ubon. Transfer in Bangkok. Is a connect flight with Thai airways. Do we have to go through customs in Bangkok or is this path in Ubon?

Greetings,

Nathalie

You must first go through immigration in Bangkok. When that is done, collect your luggage.
With that to the 4th floor. check in at Thai Smile before your flight to Ubon. I assume that you have already booked it via the internet. Then through security and finding your way to the departure gate is indicated on your boarding pass. Don't make the transfer time too tight, it can be busy at immigration and the distances to be covered at the airport are quite time-consuming. Success with it…

For Ubon Ratchathani you always have to go through immigration in Bangkok, pick up your luggage at the belt, go through customs (nothing to declare in green and something to declare in red). From Level 2 up to Level 4 from the exit all the way to the right to the domestic part of the airport to re-check in and through security. The domestic flight of Thai Airways is probably operated by Thai Smile: a subsidiary.

    Hi Natalie,

Yes through customs In Bangkok, luggage is phoned through to Udon, if it is also a Thai Airways flight.

If (again: IF) the luggage is labeled, you do not go through customs in Bangkok, but through immigration control. If Ubon does not have customs facilities, it is therefore not possible to continue labeling anyway.

Hi Henry, Thank you. It is indeed the case that our luggage is transferred to the flight to Ubon. That's why I didn't know if I had to go through customs in Bangkok. But it's clear to me now. Thank you again. hello Natalie

Yes, Henry, Udon Thani; international airport. But Nathalie asks Ubon Ratchathani…….. See Bert's answer above.

If you have a connecting flight with Thaiairways to Ubon, your bags will automatically go into the plane of this connecting flight if the entire ticket has also been postponed from Thai Airways.
As far as I know, you just follow the instructions connecting flight to the Landing in Bangkok, and you first go through Immigration in Ubon.
I have the same after landing in BKK if I have a connecting flight to Chiang Rai with the same company Thai Airways.
I first arrive in Chiang Rai through Immigration, and see my suitcase there for the first time after the trip.

Hello John, I do indeed have a connecting flight with Thaiairways. Thank you for your information. Then at least I know how and what. hello Natalie

Such questions can of course also have success on this blog, but to be completely sure, and who of course does not want that when he/she goes on a trip, simply contact Thai Airway Brussels.
You can inquire exactly by telephone or even by e-mail about the procedure in Bangkok.
In my case, when I fly to Chiang Rai with Thaiairways, after Landing in BKK, I just follow the directions Connecting Flights, and see the Immigration and my Baggage first in Chiang Rai Airport.

This is not about Udon, but about Ubon.

      Meant in response to @Henry..,,,,

TG has not been flying to Ubon for several years now. It must be ThaiSmile.
Many people also no longer know the difference between passport control = immigration and customs = baggage control. Will come through the borderless EU.
Your pass is really always checked as soon as you enter TH - rather accomodating, by the way.
WHETHER you have to pick up your luggage in BKK etc. depends on whether or not it is labeled on departure, which in turn depends on the airline, which you are apparently not really aware of. Just assume not - then you also have to wait for your luggage, in BKK through Thai customs and then to INcheck domestic. If this turns out to be possible (because it is only possible to a limited number of airports and I don't know if Ubon falls under that), then you take the SIDE exit directly to domestic in Swampy - much quieter. Then of course the customs check is only done in Ubon. This usually works for cities like ChMai or Phuket and even Samui, but you have to ask Ubon if you really want to know that now.

    Dear,
You say you leave from Zaventem, so I assume you have booked with Thai Airways.
This flight usually arrives at Suvarnabhumi in the morning around 5:30 am to 5:45 am.
Then you will first have to go through immigration, you will be there around 7:00 am. Tip: see if there are many people at the first, otherwise walk 50 m to the second.
Then pick up your bags and go to the exit. You are then on Level 2.
Suitcases are not forwarded directly to Ubon Ratchathani as it is not an international airport. You have 2 options…
1st, you go from level 2 to level 4 (departure), there you check in at Thai Smile, if you have booked that. You don't get the next flight at 7:25 AM, the next flight from Thai Smile is at 12:00 PM. (around 1300bath), arrival in Ubon at 13h05. Again through customs and to the gate.
2nd, you go on level 2 to Door nr3. There you take the free shuttle bus to Don Muang (show your flight ticket). There is a bus every 1200 minutes. You are on the bus for an hour. At the airport of Don Muang you check in with your airline (I always take Air Asia, also around 1300 – 11bath), departure at 00:12 am and arrival in Ubon at 05:9 pm Normally I am always between 00:10 am and 00:XNUMX am at Don Muang, then I have something to eat and then I go through to customs and to the gate .

There are airports in Thailand with immigration and customs, but Ubon Ratchathani is a domestic airport without Immigration and without customs. So you always have to go through immigration at BKK airport and then you have to bring your luggage yourself through customs at Bangkok airport and then check in again.
This also applies to Udon Thani. Although Udon Thani International Airport is located at this airport, there have been no international flights for several years.
Incidentally, both airports were built by the Americans during the Vietnam War. The aircraft for the infamous bombing raids departed from these airfields.

    • Chris says up

Indeed, Ubon Ratchathani is an airport with no Immigration and no Customs. Your ID and luggage will therefore not be checked there upon arrival. That happens in Bangkok.

Nathalie, after all the advice, you will receive your ticket back at the first check-in desk with a small part of the luggage tag stuck on it. It shows the code where the luggage goes on the belt. For Ubon Ratchathani it is UBP, for Udon Thani UTH. For Bangkok Suwannaphoem BKK, for Don Muang DMK.

You are free to ask at the first check-in desk whether they are willing and able to continue labeling. Have a nice trip!

We flew from BRU to Ko Samui on Feb 1 and from Ko Samui to Auckland on Feb 28. At the check-in we said forward the luggage to the final destination. Every time it went without a problem.

Thank you all for your responses. Looking forward to my first trip to Thailand. Greetings Natalie
