Reader question: Solution to keep track of all Line chat history?

Dear readers,

Does anyone know a solution to keep track of all Line chat history? By that I mean all the messages, photos, videos, audio messages you've ever sent in the Line application. This is not a problem with Whatsapp, but it is with Line. Line deletes photos, videos, audio messages after 14 days, which I find very unfortunate. I really like looking at my chat history.

What I don't find a solution is the “Keep” function that is built into Line, I'm not going to bother with saving each photo separately.

Regards,

Luka

Strange, but it may be the case with you that everything is deleted after 14 days. I still have photos in LINE from 2019.
Photos can be saved as follows. Tap the photo and at the bottom of the image a "waste bin" appears, a "Share logo" and a "bin with an arrow pointing down." Click on that tray and after a few seconds. you will see a small screen with SAVED. With me they can be seen in my album with you probably too (don't know how other smartphones work, I have sony xperia)
That does not work for videos, messages and voice messages, but here again: I still have very old messages / photos, etc. in it.

    Maybe change your settings?
I have been using line daily for 7 years and still have all conversations, photos, etc. I have never heard or seen line delete automatic conversations.
You can also easily save conversations (automatically) to iCloud, for example, the steps for this are different for iPhone or Android. This is not the Keep function but a separate way of saving so that you always have all the messages in case your phone is closed or broken.

Which settings should I adjust? I work on android. I've looked at all possible settings in Line and I don't see a solution to automatically save my photos, videos, audio messages. Conversations (text messages) do indeed not disappear in Line, but photos, videos and audio messages are deleted after 14 days. You will still see a thumbnail of the photo in the conversation, but you will no longer be able to open the photo itself. And if you transfer your Line to another phone, you will also lose that thumbnail.

I have an iPhone and line and whatsapp indeed work differently. In-line chats are preserved, but photos and videos become unavailable over time unless you click them separately to save. When I bought a new iPhone and transferred line from the cloud it was the same, the conversations were still there but the photos that I had not saved separately were not. There is an option to create albums and notes for each contact, which will be saved.
