Dear readers,

We booked 2 tickets for Thailand last April for January 2021 with the idea that the whole situation would be over. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem plausible now.

Does anyone know if it is possible to fly to Bangkok and then immediately fly to another country where we are welcome. So landing in Thailand but not entering the country but only transit?

Regards,

Tinka

If this should work, I'm afraid it will be a problem to find a country in Southeast Asia where you can enter.

Malaysia will remain closed until the end of December, but is this also the case for Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos?

You can now just fly to Cambodia. Through Seoul. You are welcome 🙂

Just fly to Cambodia – but will you also enter the country? I also see some Covid-related restrictions in the announcement below… Or have they been withdrawn?

I will only give you a chance if you continue flying with the same airline, you can have your luggage checked immediately and you do not have to go through immigration. And then you still depend on the goodwill at check-in. I wouldn't take the risk myself because there is a big chance that you will simply be refused.

I'm afraid you won't be allowed on a flight to Thailand without a Certificate of Entry. The fact that you could show a ticket for a flight from Bangkok to elsewhere will not help.

Transit is (currently) not allowed, see here. https://www.caat.or.th/?lang=en

There are several websites with information about which countries are open. Not always up to date.
    This eg https://blog.wego.com/international-reopening/

But there is a better one, which I can't find so easily now. Search!

Maybe don't buy taps again in the near future. Because there is no certainty in the near future, everything changes quite regularly.

I don't know who you booked with, but at the moment Thailand does not allow any commercial flights, only repatriation flights are currently possible. But everything changes every week and January is still a while. not inside either.

Herman, where did you get this from?

My girlfriend is now in Belgium with qatar airways, bought a return ticket.

she is thai, living in thailand.

she is now staying here for 1 month, and soon she will take her return flight back to thailand with qatar.

and then she can be quarantined for 14 days at her own expense. If you do not book a flight TO Thailand through the embassy, you must be quarantined at her own expense. This rule has taken effect from October 1. And as you know, the rules change every week. So always check with the embassy.

    Yes Herman, this is correct.

quarantine at your own expense, a 29.000 baht for those 14 days, has already been reserved, we are aware of that.

but I just posted the above message to your response that BANGKOK would not allow commercial flights….

I think that flight will continue, you can look at the suvernhabumi airport website, and at the ARRIVALS you see daily flights from DOHA (such as my qatar flight) arriving .. that's what I meant. that commercial flights are indeed coming.
