Reader question: Is U-Ttapao Airport near Pattaya open?
Dear readers,
Is U-Tapao Airport open? We would like to go to Pattaya March 30 for 1 week. An alternative is to fly to Suvarnabhumi with Thai Smile and take the Bell Travel bus there, but do they run from the airport to Pattaya?
Both Air Asia and Bell Travel are not replying to my messages.
Regards,
Luke (BE)

Maybe a tip: When there was still plenty of flying, there was a bus from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya, and back. https://airportpattayabus.com 130 baht one way for a ticket. The bus departs from level 1. If this bus is not available now, a taxi is an alternative.
This bus runs less frequently
Short and simple
Yes and yes.
On level 1 is still the bus for 130 tbh but only every 2 hours with stop in pattaya and end in jomptiem
The bell bus, which I always took, is no longer there for the time being.
An alternative taxi is 1600 TBH, so quite expensive
You don't have to pay more than 1000 baht for a taxi. 1600 is maybe if you take a metered taxi that won't run on the meter and says it costs 1600 baht. Google pattaya taxi. Then you will find many companies that only ask for 1000 baht. Including tollway.
Dear Luke,
Utapao is open, but flights will not start until April 1 (no joke).
Greetings, Gino.
Thanks Gino, I checked with Air Asia and they have a flight on April 1 (2065 baht/person). This is a serious increase, previously I paid 1250 baht including minivan.
Dear Luke,
You're welcome and have a nice trip.
Grts.Gino.
I booked Chiang Mai-Utapoa on March 25, 835baht. Thai lion air.
You can check on the internet whether that flight can be booked. If yes then it is also open. Doesn't seem that difficult to me.
Utapao is open and there are incoming and outgoing flights, the offer is limited but several flights have arrived and departed even today.
Regarding the Bell Travel bus: if you go to the website of https://belltravelservice.com/ want to book a trip from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya on March 30th, no dates will appear there! You can go to Hua Hin, one ride a day at 12 pm.
Alternatively, if you are not over loaded, commute to Ekamai bus station. According to Google, buses to Pty depart from here.
Ekamai BTS station is within walking distance. But I repeat 'if you don't have heavy luggage', otherwise you will have serious problems to reach the ground floor from the BTS station.
Safe journey.
Utapao (UTP) airport is open as usual. It is possible that Airasia does not fly to and from UTP for a while. Thai Lion air does fly, albeit somewhat limited, to and from UTP
The best alternative seems to me: https://airportpattayabus.com/ simply bookable online. Direct (now every 2 hours) to Pattaya (stops in Pattaya Sukhumvit north, middle and Jomtien).
