Dear readers,

I am looking for information about transfers at Suvarnabhumi. I can't find it on the internet. Who knows how it works at the moment?

Can you stay within the transfer zone, without controls and especially without quarantine? It concerns a flight from Amsterdam to Shanghai, with a transfer in Bangkok, waiting 11 hours.

Probably with KLM (but the KLM telephone staff don't know that either).

Is anyone aware?

Thanks for responses,

Regards,

Lonnie.

    Well,

From what I understand, everyone who comes in gets a medical check whether you stay in Bangkok or not. You will then have a personal attendant come to your suitcase, which you will have to pick up from the conveyor belt yourself. No transfer service. That's as far as I know, expect at least a 4 hour delay. Well then......maybe 14 days in terms......Nobody told yet.

I can't find a flight to BKK on the KLM site until January 29.

But why a companion for the suitcase when it comes to a transfer?
With a transfer, as the questioner describes, you do not enter the country (you do not go through immigration) and your luggage is labeled through to the final destination.
I do not know whether a negative test must be submitted when boarding in Shanghai in order to be allowed to transfer in Bangkok. That is information that the airline must provide.

NB The questioner does not indicate whether the journey is made on one ticket - but it almost had to be, because going "into" Thailand to check in again for a connecting flight does not seem allowed under the Thai corona rules.

I would be very surprised if that were indeed possible. The 'Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand' (CAAT) leaves no room for this in my published conditions. Even if passengers continue on the same aircraft, they must remain on board.
