Dear readers,

I have been told that there is a global logging and trade ban on teak trees and wood in Thailand and Asia. Who can provide me with clear information about this?

What I have found so far is news from a number of years ago.

Regards,

W.

  1. Rob Thai Mai says up

Cutting teak is not allowed. The teak now on the market is either illegal or from abroad.
At the moment you can get teak plants at the Ministry of Forestry on presentation of your soil statement.
These trees can be felled later, but it takes at least 20 years before they have a good size. So long breath.

So an existing forest that is 30 years old may no longer be cut down?

Yes, that is allowed, provided that a felling permit has been issued at the time of planting. If not unfortunately peanut butter
