Dear readers,

Since February 1, I regularly see a Transavia plane at Udon Thani airport. Would it finally be possible to fly from Udon to the Netherlands?

The photo was taken by my daughter from the school building at the airport entrance.

Regards,

These devices are temporarily rented out.

    I suspect the same as...

Airlines sometimes rent out aircraft to other companies, for example when it is less busy.

The aircraft in the photo is clearly a Boeing 737. Nok Air also flies with the Boeing 737…

I don't think the Boeing 737 can cover distances between Europe and Thailand.

Who would want to fly to Thailand with a Boeing 737 from the Netherlands or Belgium???

With a stopover in Dubai – because Transavia already flies there with a 737 – the flight to Thailand will succeed, but as you also indicate, the question is whether enough people would want that.

    Addition to my answer:

According to Air Fleets (https://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/Transavia%20Airlines.htm) Transavia has 35 aircraft in its fleet:

    7 737 x-700
    28 737 x-800

    Another addition…

The aircraft in the photo is a Boeing 737-800

    Cruising speed 850 km/h / 528 mph / 459 kts
    Max. range 4.200 km / 2.430 nmi
    max. number of passengers 186

So, that B737-800 would have to make two stops from TH to NL. Not so handy.

I also saw this in HCMC, it was a NOKair flight. I think NOKair rents planes from Transavia.

This 737 belongs to Transavia France and is rented by Nok Air during winter.

Is leased from Transavia France, concerns this aircraft: https://www.planespotters.net/airframe/737-800-hs-dma-nok-air/r6vwpm

A friend of mine had booked a domestic flight with Nok-Air. From Don Muang to Phuket. To his surprise, he boarded a Transavia plane. It turns out that Nok-Air rented this aircraft from Transavia.

I flew from Udon to BKK today. When I arrived by taxi at the airport, I saw the Transavia plane. Was surprised too. Couldn't find anything about it on the internet. See the above confirmation tonight.

Rented indeed. I saw a plane from WIZZ air (Hungary) at BKK airport last January, same story.
