Dear readers,

I am looking for an electrician in the Jomtien (Pattaya) area who can help me identify the tangle of wires, their origin and destination and remove them if useless. The building also has at least 3 switch boxes, of which at least 2 are superfluous.

No Thai because they stick everything together, but a retired expat preferably speaking Dutch is desired. Doesn't have to be done for free. Property is in Jomtien complex. tel: 0874845321

Yours faithfully,

Bob

Well Well, you are tarring all Thai people with the same brush, and giving a bad impression about their skills. There are good and bad professionals in every country. This also applies in the Netherlands and Thailand. A little more respect wouldn't go amiss.

You said that very well Hank.

We know a nice Thai man called Heng, who connected the power and new contact points with us, also in Jomtien Complex. Which we are very satisfied with.
But don't give Bob his number, out of respect for Heng.

      Yours faithfully,

      Diana

Can I express a preference? Including the aspect of the language.

        Dear Bob,

Then you should express preference without derogatory connotation.

    Hi Bob,
Here in the interior of Thailand you can find good electricians, so certainly with you.
Take a look around where they are building and find the big boss, who does speak English, don't you.
And then as a farang you get all the information.
That's how I've been doing it for years.
    Regards,
    Be

I don't want information but an electrician and that is not the big boss who likes to see money by the way

    Dear Bob,

I read that you don't want Thai. I had Thai install all the electricity and related matters in our house.
I can only say that it is excellently done, certainly Dutch level, only many times cheaper. They are only in Isaan, which is a pity.

Well well Bob, that wasn't the right approach, was it?
Initially I wanted to give you a telephone number of a person known to me as a good electrician, but on second thought I prefer to agree with Diana's reaction.
    Success!

    Bob
A Thai electrician who is used to finding his way through that tangle of wires is usually a good craftsman. The standards here are just a bit less strict, with us in Belgium they exaggerate a bit too much. If you already know that 2 switch boxes are unnecessary, you can perhaps solve it yourself. When I see those people here working on those bamboo ladders in that tangle, I'm sure they know very well how to do it.
