Dear readers,

Does anyone know if it is possible to check the balance and validity date of a prepaid phone card if you are not in Thailand and do not have international coverage on this card?

Due to covid-19 we were unable to come to Thailand but would like to keep my number.

Many thanks for any info.

Regards,

Karel

It is possible. In addition to my NL sim, I also have an AIS prepaid sim in my phone. When purchasing the sim came a whole menu of options, including “balance”. This allows me to gain insight into the validity and balance from NL. I can also top up my AIS balance from my thai bank account from NL if needed.

You can try connecting to your SIM card provider via a VPN. Suc 6

This only for the duration of the card.
*934*30# is extra for 3 months validity.
This will then be deducted from your call credit.
Was 2 baht a month, but now I believe 3 baht a month.

    Hello Karel,

You can download MyAIS app and keep an eye on your prepaid SIM card until when it is valid and what balance is left on it.
    success

It would have been better if you also said which provider, because it works differently with each provider.

I myself have AIS and have, for example, received an app from AIS on which you can read your credit and validity.

Or you can also call *121# and then call the horn for your credit and validity.

There are also many ways to top up from the Netherlands, for example via. Recharge.com

I have a prepaid card from AIS and can buy calling credit from Belgium with my credit card via the myAIS app and extend the validity without any problem.

Have an acquaintance in Thailand look for such a machine at most 7/11 stores. For every 10 baht you get 1 month extension. So ff 12 times 10 baht and you have a year extension on your own number. You don't have to check anything. If you have one to all and you are in Holland, you will switch to kpn. Do together.

Install your provider's app. Then you can see everything from your sim. If you (late) top up your credit, you will gain validity again. Sometimes it is useful to top up 20 baht a few times. An acquaintance in Thailand may be able to do that for you if you do not have a Thai bank account. I do it from the Netherlands with the myAis app and my Krungsri (KMA) app. Always in control!

I had the same problem. I have an AIS SIM card that I only use in Thailand. I top up the balance via a machine at the 7/11. Pretty handy. You will immediately receive a text message with the balance and validity period. The period of validity is extended by 1 month per charge. I go to Thailand three times a year and always made sure that the sim remained valid until the next trip. And then Covid came to put a stop to it. Luckily I have a girlfriend there. I could not check the period of validity in Belgium, so she went to an AIS office. There was a bit of bickering about it, but eventually she was helped. And now I put in my calendar when the sim expires and let my girlfriend know that she needs to top up the card. Each time costs 10 thb + 2 thb service. There are probably other options but this works fine for me.

      Well Alan,
I've also had a prepaid SIM card from AIS for 20 years, and I can just type 'check balance' and then see what's left on it. And I can enter "top up" via my banking app and then put some Baths on it, from 50 to Th Bth 1500.
If you don't have an account, have your girlfriend put something on your sim at 7-eleven or via her banking app.

checking via the AIS website is possible, but then you must be able to receive a text message for a login password. (mine can also do that in the Netherlands)

Click on the English language button.
You can also do some settings here or buy / activate internet data package.

    https://myais.ais.co.th/login?returnUrl=%2Fhome

I have no experience with other telecom providers.

It depends on which provider you have?? We also do that here in the Netherlands. (I don't want to lose my number either) I'm willing to tell you what to do. We have True.
But you have to add which one? , it's so easy.
