Reader question: Covid vaccination in Thailand?

Dear readers,

I live 500m from Jomtien Hospital Sukhumvit road Pattaya. Was there this morning to ask if I could have a covid vaccination syringe installed with them and the answer was yes. Asked when? Sorry, there are no covid vaccinations available in private hospitals yet. And now? How does an expat get a covid vaccination shot?

My insurance had already reported that they will refund this. Hospital said that they will send me an email via Bangkok Pattaya hospital when the vaccination syringe becomes available, so keep biting teeth.

Does anyone already know something more?

Regards,

Redgy (BE).

No one knows when private hospitals sell vaccines to foreigners. It is still completely unclear in Thailand whether vaccines are being purchased and vaccination programs set up at all. The Thai government announced last February that it would buy Sinovac as well as AstraZeneca and Pfizer, but this announcement remained. Previously, people had already tried to obtain vaccines in a cheaper way, preferably free, through the Poverty Fund of the UN and WHO (COVAX), but Thailand was neatly pointed out to take the wallet for its residents. Last week, Prayuth was able to grant permission to hospitals to buy in themselves. So you see how excellent Thailand cares for its people. Hospitals are therefore allowed to sell to Farang. If you want to know when all this will be completed, keep an eye on developments, for example via Bangkok Post.

You are not fully aware of the facts. Thailand has invested heavily in the Thai production facility of the Astra Zenica vaccine.
Because this factory can only deliver in May or June, the Chinese vaccine was purchased in the run-up to that moment.

As far as private hospitals are concerned, the government has already authorized the global sale of 10 million doses by private hospitals. This concerns 8 vaccines approved by the WHO and/or Thailand. To prevent proliferation in purchasing and to guarantee quality, purchasing will probably take place through the Governenent Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO).

The government can authorize whatever it wants, but as long as vaccines are scarce worldwide, manufacturers will first have to fulfill their contractual obligations and then the rest will be provided.

Since joining the government, Prayuth has grown his wealth by THB 600 million. The budget for the army is still increasing by 7%/year, which explains a lot. By the way, it takes some fiddling around in the corruption pot to take something out of the budget by, for example, purchasing SInovac (the almost worthless Chinese vaccine). This is supported by Minister Anutin (remember him as the man who blamed the dirty farangs for bringing in the Chinese virus); Neither of them have been vaccinated with a Sinovac vaccine... That also says something... Typical of those who are in charge here... Unfortunately.

Wasn't Mr. Anutin, the construction worker doctor, the same as his brother who was a welcome guest in that Hisoos sex club where the virus had been around for a while.

      Jan Beute.

Yes, building a high-speed train that costs millions.
But your own PEOPLE, people who already have almost no money, don't help with a vaccine for free.!!!

    OUTSTANDING MR PRAYUT.

according to the Thai news service, private hospitals are allowed to order the veaccins.
they may be available here in Chiang Mai in June (Ram Hospital, Bangkok Hospital) at the price of 2.000 baht per injection.
You can provide your name and they will notify you by email or by phone when the vaccines are available

Embassy staff and their relatives abroad are also given priority, because, according to the minister, they often live in countries with "major corona outbreaks and deficient medical facilities". As a result, there is no question of a safe working environment. These people will probably receive the Janssen vaccine. (Nu.nl)

      what?????/
Not in the Netherlands, because the Dutch government takes care of that, I recently read.
Can't imagine Thailand's vaccines being sent to all Thai embassies.
Seems crazy to me, and unnecessarily time consuming and expensive.
