Dear readers,

Big question now? Will the airport remain open now that the state of emergency is in effect…? Have a KLM ticket for 30 Mar. Wait and see or does anyone know anything?

Regards,

Max

Yesterday I flew home with KLM. Tomorrow will be KLM's last flight, the flight attendants could tell. After that no more.

I don't think leaving for Thailand right now is a good idea.

I normally flew on 29/3 but received a message last Tuesday when I still wanted to fly back to Thailand, I had to pack immediately and leave immediately on Wednesday morning. Got a Brussels-Amsterdam flight. I had to be through immigration and control before noon. And yes, on Tuesday evening I heard in the news that everything was closing at 12 o'clock.

Thai Airways can also not be reached in Brussels - since March 20, no telephone contact has been made.
Consult website and try via email???

People who, against the instructions of most European governments, still believe that they should come to Thailand, should seriously consider this wish.
It is of course gross negligence that they cannot receive the correct medical care here later, because the system can reach its limits due to an increase in patients.
Moreover, in the event of an infection, I would already find it a misplaced expectation if, against the warnings of their own home government, one also thinks to take away a place from an infected Thai in this way.
Or should everyone be ready to save them, and perhaps with a recovery action, which must be paid for by the community, to collect them again.?
I would oblige the people who still want to come on holiday to sign something, that everything is at their own risk, and that they cannot expect any assistance from their home country or Thailand in an emergency.

    Hi Max,

My son also flies back with KLM on March 30th. What we now know is that the departure time has changed to departure in the evening at 22.30 instead of 12.05 with the KL876.

Good luck and hope the journey goes smoothly.

    Hi Max,
We returned today with klm and would come back on the 30th
We have been in uncertainty for two weeks, whether we can return earlier or not…
Last week we were told by the travel organization that we could fly today.
But later we heard from klm again that we would fly even later than originally on the 30th.
We flew from Koh Samui to Bangkok and many seats were empty.

Then just tried with our tickets from the 25th and it worked.
Our flight out of 30 is two seats that are not filled….
    I recommend trying it.
About 15 people checked in with them who didn't have a ticket but just gambled on it just like us.
KLM's extra staff has also been taken back. And there were still empty seats.
So I'm afraid klm had its last flight to Bangkok.

    Good luck and success!

    Dear Max,
you label it yourself as “Big question” and that's it. Your question is indeed a big question because you do not write whether you want to fly from the Netherlands to Thailand or from Thailand to the Netherlands. Yes, the airports remain open, despite the 'state of emergency'. If you have been following the news at all, you should know that ENTERING Thailand as a foreigner is NO longer possible from today, unless with a special permission. LEAVING Thailand, you will have to contact the airline you are flying with to check whether the flight will continue or not. Difficult ?

Except that almost 99% of the flight will not go ahead. Have you also considered that your travel and cancellation insurance does not cover you if you go to a country with an orange or red travel advice? This means that you are not insured either, because you look that up yourself.

At the moment all booking offices and airlines are trying to solve the mess that has arisen and they will also need time. Had a flight on March 23 from Auckland to Sydney and was informed on March 24 that the airline had canceled the flight for the group due to travel restrictions. It was stated that the finishing would take several weeks.

In any case, this gave me a good feeling for the other flights that should have taken place on April 6. These cannot take place either, but fortunately these people have already rebooked and are in the Netherlands. I myself cannot leave due to a total lockdown in New Zealand, so going to Thailand will take at least 5 weeks for the time being.
