Home » Reader question » Reader question: How to open a Thai bank account as a tourist (Pattaya)
Dear readers,
At which bank in Pattaya can I currently open a Thai account with a tourist visa without any problems and use the hotel's address details?
Preferably a bank near Tukcom Shopping Mall.
Would like to hear.
Regards,
Laurent
No, you cannot open an account with a tourist visa, and certainly not at a hotel address
officially it is not possible but sometimes they are not that difficult just walk a few benches
preferably with a Thai with a bit of prestige or put on someone else's name
that person must be trustworthy greetings E Thai
Then I'll do a round soon. I will immediately bring 40.000 Baht to deposit immediately upon opening, perhaps they will be less strict with the rules then..
In any case, you are asked to deposit 10.000 baht when opening an account.
40.000 baht is not that much, they won't treat you more smoothly because of that.
Wish you good luck and maybe you will succeed but normally they require a non immigrant O visa.
Geert.
Geert.
I opened 2 bank accounts last year and I didn't have to deposit 10.000 baht in either one. I do know that Kasikorn bank has to do.
Furthermore, both banks strictly requested a Non-O visa or work permit. Even with a Non O, some branches are still difficult and sometimes a passport statement from the embassy must be submitted.
addition may differ per branch of the same bank
sometimes even differs per person and same bank
Although this item comes up regularly, it might be an option to first look in the search mode of Thailand blog.
Some banks are not difficult with tourist visas. Kasikorn was easy but very dependent on the employee.
With non immigrant o things are going smoothly at the Bangkok Bank, kasikorn and krungsri.
Tanachart and Tmb did not even want this and only there with a work permit.
So it's just looking and searching. Even on different days at the same bank with different employees.
The amount you deposit is not a factor.
It's all about the right documents.
Dear Laurent,
Try western union.
regards Antony
I once succeeded at the Kasikorn bank.
You can save yourself that. No bank will open an account.
Dear Laurent,
first ask yourself how easy this would be in the Netherlands or Belgium. In Thailand it is not that easy anymore, certainly not without a fixed address and with a tourist visa. WHO you know does play a major role. I have already managed, together with my neighbour, Professor Gobelijn, to open an account with a tourist visa for a few people, including C&A. You definitely need a Thai person, preferably with a state job, who wants to act as guarantor for you. Don't think that 40.000THB will open all doors, for a bank that is not an important amount.
The most flexible bank is currently the Bangkok bank.
Did you think so. Tried BB a week ago. I even have a NON-O ME visa. This time it was the excuse that I had to have a letter or something from the Dutch embassy, I had received a recommendation from the IMM that they could give me a bank account. Last year at the same bank I had to have proof of address. Then at Krungthai bank. No, I had to guarantee another customer who had an account for more than a year. Then I took my sister-in-law who only had an advantage, she has no debts but also no money. With that I got a bank account with Krungthai.
I've been reading different sites and blogs on this topic for a year and I hadn't come across the 2 variants I've had yet.
Conclusion: In Thailand, the law/rules are set by the bourgeoisie depending on how the day started or maybe ends. And the stupid farmers and foreigners must make a deep wai, even if it is not in their interest. if not it can be even more sour next time.
20 years ago you could open a bank account in any Thai bank without any visa. This is no longer possible in the meantime. But in Belgium it is also impossible to open a bank account without a domicile address in Belgium. Then why think so low about Thailand again. I hear here on this Blog that Dutch people are banned from some of their banks in their home country because their permanent address is now in Thailand……..Is that again the fault of the oooo so bad Thailand?
There is a branch of the SCB in the Tukcom on the ground floor. Just ask. Good luck.
Dear reader
Last year at the UOB bank without a residence statement, it was immediately mandatory to deposit 50.000
On the Naklua road. (I'm well known there)
Happy evening Peter Yai
Thanks for your feedback, I'll let you know how it turned out
at kasikornbank and works perfectly via pc online

Usually she manages to open an account for a fee.
Those who know her know that she has 2 big plus points
Tiktok is a commercial institution.
Do visit the website and see the price of opening an account.
2600 baht.
Krungsri. Walked in last year and was done right away. Even with a credit card.
Dress neatly and come with the right documents such as passport and address with copies. And don't ask a question. At the same time as me there was another foreigner who very hesitantly asked if he could open an account. He got nothing.
I said I would like to open an account and deposit X amount. That was right.
Hi,
I come to Thailand 3 times a year as a tourist and therefore thought it was useful to have an account there.
Last year I tried to open an account at a Kasikorn branch, located in the Big C mall Pattaya Klang. So this didn't work. I did not meet the conditions.
At the beginning of this year I went to the same branch this kzer with my girlfriend. She opened a new account in her name. I received all the documents and bank card that I had to activate on site by depositing a minimum of 2000thb on it and entering a pin code. It's only half a solution, of course, but it works for me
This does not work for those who want a non-immigrant o retriment visa.
And not everyone wants their bank account in someone else's name
