Home » Reader question » Reader question: Who knows a good tailor or cobbler in Bangkok or Pattaya?
Dear readers,
I am a frequent visitor to Thailand. I travel a lot around the country and golf a lot. My next trip is in November. Although I know a lot about Thailand, I don't know the right addresses for all subjects.
For example, on my next trip I want to have a beautiful (prom) dress of my girlfriend recreated at a good tailor and I am also looking for an address to have my beloved Clarks shoes fitted with new soles.
Both activities are relatively expensive in the Netherlands because of the wages. It seems to me that it can be cheaper in Thailand.
Who can help me with an address of a good, reliable and not too expensive tailor or shoemaker in Bangkok or Pattaya?
Thanks in advance.
Willem
Have gained quite a bit of experience with tailors in Thailand. The majority only sells the fabric and takes the measurement and then has it made elsewhere for next to nothing. The best experience I have with DINO on Sukhumvit Rd almost opposite Robinson. So across the street from Sukhumvit. Note, however, there is another Dino, but you should not have it. Take the DINO near the stairs to the BTS. Class tailors and reliable.
Hello John,
That must be close to Terminal 21. BTS Asoke. I'm going to find it.
Thank you
Hello William,
Here in our street, Thepprasit road, soi 17 (Jomtien) is a good cobbler.
This one also makes brand new shoes and it works Keurig.
Had a number of things done with him and was always good.
Yes, those prices in the Netherlands no longer make sense at all.
That was already the case before we moved to Thailand.
And I would also like to find a good tailor here, (Jomtien) without immediately cutting your neck in terms of price.
As soon as they ask where you live, talk about this, because if it's a "nice" address, you will immediately get different prices.
LOUISE
WILLIAM,
Don't forget to add if you enter soi 17, from Thepprasit road, it's the last shophouse on your left.
Hello Louise,
Thanks for the tip.
I know soi 17. I myself always stay in Tapphraya soi 5. Not far from Thepprasit rd.
Also in November again.
There is a good tailor on Naklua Road Pattaya, just past Best Supermarket.
Be careful, negotiate!
A good cobbler is located in soi 1 sukhumvit road in Bangkok. She's called An An and I've had custom shoes made there for over 15 years for around €80-90 and even golf shoes for €100
Hi Willem, I have a suit made every year (already about 5) at Today's Fashion, naklua road 179/107M5. Pattaya
0818620578.
This is rounding the Dolphins towards Naklua and after 75m on your right, just next to 2 bars.
PS he now also sells travel cases.
As John says, they are not made themselves, but somewhere in a workshop. They measure it, the next day you will try it on, then it will be finished and then you will finally fit it. So count on 3 to 4 days.
First ask for a good quality fabric, if you have it, negotiate the price. You can always mention that you have their name through a Belgian, then he will know that he has to give a competitive price
Succes
