Dear readers,

We would like to do the following in Thailand: Nan, Phayao, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai. In this order. Is it easy to arrange transport to the next place locally in Nan and Phayao?

Greetings,

Heidy

No problem at all to drive to those places by bus. A tip: If you are staying in Phayao, take a trip to Wat Analayo. Across the street from the lake. A vast temple complex with two separate complexes. Especially the highest complex is beautiful with a very special temple and beautiful views of the valley.

Public transport between the different cities and villages is well organized in Thailand. If you don't want to book online, just ask for the relevant Bus station -op Thai (spoken) Sathanee Rotbas you thinai ka. The buses run several times a day.
Or check out the link below.

With the Dutch phonetics you say: suthanie rothbas joe thienai khaap(male)/khaa(female)?
      Thai style: สถานีรถบัสอยู่ที่ไหนครับ/ค่ะ
English: Where is the bus station please?
ครับ = khaap. A man says this at the end of the sentence.
ค่ะ = khaa. A woman says this at the end of the sentence.
In the above question you can best translate ครับ/ค่ะ with please.

    Hello Heidi,
Thailand has excellent organized bus transport all over the country. We know this from experience and we can recommend it.
Go to your local bus station and check the arrival/departure times. I even think that information is available in a Tourist Office or at the local bus station. And there is always someone at the bus station for passenger questions.
It is cheap but be present on time of departure because people drive on time! And in the bus it is cozy and there is TV!

And then of course there is the taxi. As Dutch people, we don't often think about it, but the costs for a taxi ride in Thailand are laughable compared to the Netherlands. Ride of 320 km. from Bangkok to Trat: 90 euros. And for that amount the poor driver drives back home too.
So if you want to travel comfortably with your family from hotel/resort A to B, wonderfully air-conditioned without lugging, then simply inquire at the hotel itself. And of course at the restaurant around the corner, who also has a cousin who does that kind of work.

    Dear All,

Thank you very much for your responses. I've been to Thailand about 12 times now, but I've never visited Nan and Phayao. So don't know the area at all. Hence my question. Thanks to your answers, our route is now fixed: Nan –> Phayao –> Chiang Rai –> Chiang Mai.

    Again thanks a lot.

    Greetings,
    Heidy
