Dear readers,

Does anyone have experience with importing farmed birds, such as budgerigars, into Thailand and what the conditions are for this?

Regards,

Paul

Why would you import parakeets? Unless, of course, it is your personal culture that is difficult to distance yourself from. Here you can buy them for 200 Baht. It happens to be my hobby. You can buy them where you want and they will send them to you with a courier service if you live too far. If you would like more information, feel free to give us a call: [email protected]; Now I have to say that they don't get whole wheat bread, corn on the cob, fresh flowers/plants, decent grains/seeds everywhere, but you soon notice that when you visit a grower yourself. I myself live in Khon Kaen and you have a number of growers (who also sell) and also a number of sellers (pet shops or pet food shops) who buy from those growers. You can also buy from private individuals, but there the choice is more limited. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call. Good luck. Don't forget the possible cumbersome administration during import and the import taxes.

I also live in Khon Kaen and what Hans says is correct. I also have 12 birds, all types of macaws, love bhirts and even a sparrow that flies freely with my macaw.

Ha, that's good to hear! I've been to Thailand a few times but haven't seen any pet shops. I wasn't particularly looking for it then, it will be in a few years when I finally go there. Do you also know if ornamental chickens are available? I'm thinking of Sebrights and Wyandottes.

    Dear,
I regularly import racing pigeons, but that is always through an importer, costs are 4700 baht per pigeon, for birds I have no idea.

        Dear,
I enter via Dr Juve Techavichian, you can find him on facebook in a bit.
No idea if he does birds.
I have a friend who lives in Bangkok Pamornchai supply, who imports a whole range of animal feeds, including the exotic, http://www.pamornchaisupply.com he also does the big bird shows everywhere.
We love pets called. You can also look them up on Facebook, they may know a way.
        Success with it
