Home » Reader question » Reader question: Insert albums for stamp collectors in Pattaya
Dear readers,
I am an avid stamp collector (sort of a dying breed) and have specialized in certain countries. For the connoisseurs among you, it will be known that pasting in albums is 'not done' because everything should preferably be 'mint fresh'. I use so-called plug-in books for this. You know with those black pages and countless strips of transparent plastic in which you can store hundreds of stamps per insert album.
I urgently need such stockbooks, new or second hand. Do any of you know where I can find such insert albums in Pattaya? I hardly ever come to the Netherlands anymore so a local address in Pattaya would be very welcome.
Thank you very much for your advice.
Regards,
Piet
A friend of mine is coming to Pattaya in November.
He has several empty albums.
I'll ask him if he brings a pair.
He will certainly want to do that.
You can email me: [email protected]
Dear Piet, I still have the necessary strips of different sizes, black with transparent front, I also have a few Dutch almost complete books and 1st day envelopes from the Netherlands, Suriname and the Netherlands. Antilles and some special sheets, make an appointment with me, I live in Sikhiu Korat, but will come to Pattaya around May 20 for my 90 days to soi 5 immigration office and then spend a few days with a friend in Bang Saray, greetings Cees
Very possibly on the top floor of Friendship, but I'm not sure.
Dear Pete,
Used to be an avid paint collector as well. Have many albums including Australia, Spain, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Plus many insert albums with loose stamps from many COUNTRIES OA PAPUA NEW GUINEA, MIDDLE EAST ETC. ETC.
pLUS KILOS UNDROPPED STAMPS.
AM NEARLY 80 AND CANNOT TAKE IT ANY MORE.
I want to sell my entire collection for a reasonable price.
Go to the Netherlands for a few weeks in June and I could bring you some plug-in albums.
Let me know if you are interested.
I live in HUA HIN – phone 090 813 6098
Like to hear from you
regards
Barry Jansen
There are many people like you, for whom there is no question, so that a 'reasonable' price is no longer realizable.
As an example I will mention the well-known Rembrandt series, nvph 671-675. In the 150s, it easily fetched 50 guilders at auctions such as van Dieten, is now listed for 5 euros in the catalogue, but you can't get rid of it on the marketplace for XNUMX euros including shipping costs (!) yet.
And those are still 'wanted objects'. Most of the last 40 years until the introduction of the Euro does not even yield the postage value and you are not even allowed to use them for that anymore
Hello, If you go to Bangkok sometimes at the big post office that street has several shops selling that. By the way, also very nice stamps. Gr. Christina
Hi Pete,
I'm glad there are still people who collect stamps! I myself am very active in the stamp world, not always as a collector for myself, but I am more concerned with stamps for youth. Getting youth into stamping is even harder than keeping adults stamping, but that's another story. Back to your question. I know that in the past (20 years ago) a stamp dealer had a shop in a shopping center in the center of Pattaya. I can't remember the name of the shopping center, I haven't been to Pattaya for over 10 years, but I do know it was on one of the top floors. Whether that shop still exists is of course the question, but you can look for it. What I do know is that every weekend in Bangkok there is a stamp fair in 2 places. The largest fair is every Saturday and Sunday in the ground floor of the old main post office in Bang Rak Bangkok. The other fair is also on the weekend but in the postal museum of Phaya Thai Bangkok. In both places you will find hobby dealers who can certainly help you. I can always send you more details via email. my address is known to the editors of this blog.
greetings and lots of stamp fun,
Jean-Paul
No idea in Pattaya, but here in Korat in the Mall you have a large bookstore that also sells this, many, many kinds. For coins and stamps.
pete,
Possibly I may be able to help you, because I have to go to NLD soon.
Please contact me: [email protected]
Regards, Jules
You can just order them at Alie Expresss. They are also delivered for free
Around 1,50 per sheet in different sizes including shipping
Often says 'within 30 days' or something like that, but as a rule it is already there after a few days
Shipping status can be tracked. If it does not arrive, buyer protection = money back.
Works fine, also to the Netherlands VAT
Already ordered dozens of items from gadgets to household items in this (cheap) way.
