Dear readers,

My 10 year old grandson is coming to visit soon. He has type 1 diabetes. Does anyone have any idea where I can buy sugar-free products such as jam, yogurt, breakfast cereals, etc. near Hua Hin?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Lieve

    Dear Dear,
The Blueport supermarket has a very wide and deep assortment. There is a separate selling place for nuts in the supermarket - close to the cash registers - and they also have an extensive selection of grains there. At the Makro in HH you can buy yogurt without sugar (brand Yolida).

I myself have had type 45 diabetes for more than 1 years and for each meal I calculate the amount of insulin to be injected with the app “Diabetes: M” based on the calculated carbohydrates from the food table included in it. (Diabetes:M is also a Dutch version). So I adjust the insulin to be injected to the meal instead of keeping the carbohydrate intake the same every day. Of course, watch what I eat, but also eat plain yogurt, for example, because I know the carbohydrates in it.

Good luck with the search for sugar-free products for your grandson!

Look in the macro, sugar-free yogurt is sold there. And I can imagine that in Villa Market (not to be confused with Market Village) something of your liking is also sold, because a lot of foreign goods are sold there, right?

The yogurt that Sjaak writes about is of the brand “Yolida”, nothing added, low fat content and of excellent quality, available in cups of about 400 gr and jars of a good one and a half litres. Makro sells it, Tops too, I'm not sure about Tesco.

    Dear Dear,

If there is a villa market in hua hin, they have Stütte jam for diabetics, Frank's vanilla ice cream for diabetics and otherwise jam from d'arbo, provided the assortment is the same as in Pattaya.
    Good luck with your search
