Home » Reader question » How much alcohol in your blood is allowed as a road user in Thailand?
Dear readers,
How much alcohol in your blood is allowed as a road user in Thailand?
Regards,
Eddie (BE)
I think this is what applies now. (Since June 1, 2017).
https://www.ttrweekly.com/site/2017/06/thailand-lowers-drink-driving-limit/
Well, that's fine, provided that, just like in Belgium, the sum is recovered from the drunk driver afterwards, but the victims or damage are reimbursed by the insurance, otherwise it is another lapsus measure because they are not to blame!
in case of an accident with a Thai, you as a foreigner are very quickly screwed.
even if you think you're right and haven't been drinking, it's very difficult to get your point.
however tempting it may be: in Thailand I also maintain the principle of Glass Up, Let Your Ride.
it's not that expensive, being caught just over the limit at a check point is.
how sure are you that the equipment used is calibrated correctly?
you just shouldn't let it get to you. enjoy the ride…
Since many people cannot keep up with alcohol, a no-tolerance policy must be introduced.
Clear and no discussion about it!
mr. Low size, it is asked how high is the allowed alcohol percentage in your blood you can have without getting into trouble with the law and not playing schoolmaster.
Indeed, and that should not only be the case in Thailand.
If you have money to drink, you also have money for the taxi, my mother used to say when we went out.
Watch out with this… a friend of mine blew on the big box 300 (other measurement than europe) and that big boy asked how he was and stayed in Thailand. He said 2 weeks and was the sjaak with 300. A week later I was there taken out, and again the same story, how long have you been here. When I said 22 years and then blew 380 (2 bottles of beer) there was nothing wrong. You can blow up to 500 and over it you are the sjaak. if you are here for 14 days, they assume that you do not know this and took 5000 baht from my friend.
I know of a Thai who had way too much to drink and drove a car, was seen as a car as a murder weapon and is now released after more than 2,5 years in prison, so let yourself drive if you want to drink
I respect the opinion of the Lord low mate, but it's not an answer to Eddy's question.
My son-in-law recently had to hand in a pee at a police check. That took a while because we had stopped a few km before the police station. So he had already been.
I didn't know what was going on, because I saw other motorists stop, get out, and drive away after returning.
But a little later he came back and I was allowed to drive again.
Indeed, I was behind the wheel and he had to pee.
you may have 0.4 experienced it were already ready with the handcuffs o.5 you can already get into trouble
