Dear readers,

I am looking for a ticket Amsterdam – Bangkok for 30/10 (for a stay of five and a half months). I saw a ticket for € 540 + 25/30 administration costs. Seems like a very good price or am I too early?

How far in advance do you book?

Yours faithfully,

Johanna

With which airline? if it is direct I think normal rate but not particularly cheap.

  2. Hans says up

    If it's a direct flight, it's a nice price.
    You won't get much cheaper.
I have been going to Thailand for 20 years and I pay about the same price on average.

    greetings Hans

Most offers that pass by are tickets that are only valid for 1 or a few months. I don't know which airline you want to fly but it seems like a good price to me.

It's about the return date. You can already book tickets with an outward journey in October, flying back in March, for example, is not yet bookable. I think you have to wait another 3 weeks
If you want to pay less, look for flights with a connection in the Middle East, such as Etihad, Emirates, and Qatar airways.
Only KLM and EVA fly directly to Thailand. China airlines will stop at the end of this year.
    Price indication €500 return.

    Hello Johanna,
I think you are always too early (or too late)! With that I mean that as far as I think there is no good answer to your question.
I can only say how I do it. (then vice versa BKK-AMS) As soon as I find a price that is acceptable to me, I just book. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I paid too much afterwards. However, I have already experienced several times that someone sat next to me or paid more than 100 euros too much or less. But… in my opinion, the price you mention is certainly not absurdly high..
Do you really want to fly from AMS? Otherwise, take a look at the offers from Brussels or Dusseldorf / Frankfurt.
    Regards, JAN

I booked yesterday for the end of November. We always book early. We have been flying to Thailand since 1998. Always went with China airlines. I would also recommend choosing a decent company. We always want to fly from Amsterdam. Watch the cat out of the tree for a few weeks and then I'll grab a ticket with a nice price. Looks like you haven't seen a direct ticket (adm.costs) I always book directly with the company. Usually I have a ticket with a good price in terms of price, but you never know in advance what airlines will do.
I am now flying with Ethiad for 581 pp. At the moment a cheap price. (find a good departure day and return trip. Can make a lot of difference with the price.
But you will see from other responses (I think) that there are completely different views on this
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions

i also booked yesterday departure 28th November return 19th January with Qatar airway 534 euros

I usually book far in advance with KLM, + 3 months, then I'm usually around € 600 for a return ticket + possibly if I want an upgrade of seat, something will be added.
In the beginning I waited until the last, but if you are unlucky then you are well over 1000 € for a chair and you just have to wait and see if there is still room.

The airlines from the Middle East are having a big sale this week. Now Etihad from Abu Dhabi has also stepped in to let you fly cheaper. How about a return ticket for €431?
Is a competitive offer and the stopover is short so the total travel time is not too bad.

    • Ruud tam ruad says up

Did you also see this Teun? And look when she wants to fly ??

When to travel: Departure through July 7, 2016 + between September 1 and November 30, 2016.
      Fly from: Dusseldorf (DUS).
Minimum stay: night from Saturday to Sunday.
      Maximum stay: 1 month.

Buy it, it's a very good price. You can buy tickets up to one year in advance.

I book several times a year. If I'm sure I'm going and when I'm going there and back I don't hesitate to buy the ticket months in advance.
Certain dates, periods, the tickets are firmly priced. Other periods much lower. €540 plus fees is a good price BUT a lot can happen in five and a half months. Almost all year round, especially during the holidays and around Christmas and New Year, you can buy tickets for around € 700 . The cheap tickets can usually not be converted or at high cost. Do you really have to consider. You also have to look closely at flight time. Europe and Asia is directly about 14 hours. With a transfer a few hours longer. But sometimes you see cheap tickets and then the duration that you are on the road turns out to be 20 hours or more. Transfer time! So pay attention to that too.

I also ordered tickets from KLM in March for December 730€ with a discount because I work there, around 600€ is a really good price for a ticket. I used to order from china airlines but it is now more expensive than KLM. Early booking is often cheaper unless you book last minute then that can also be cheaper.

    Dear Johanna.
It remains a matter of scouring the internet on a daily basis.
I flew myself .. last March .. for 450 euros and at the end of this year I will go for less than 500 euros.
I booked both these flights well in advance because these offers passed by
otherwise I would have waited a while.
For the price of 540 euros plus 25/30 euros, I would be patient and look further.
Incidentally, both flights that I have booked are from a high-quality airline from the Middle East. The last flight in March last was great.. I look forward to next November.

According to the article below, it is best to book on May 12, but that is a Thursday, so go before May 10 ;-).

Anyway, Skyscanner says again that it is best to book 8 weeks in advance.

But seriously, less than 600 euros seems like a good price to me and then you have the certainty of your ticket. I wouldn't wait for a few bucks.

  14. gonny says up

If you like the price, why not book? I can assume that you have read in advance what the costs are for a stay of more than 5 months in Thailand.
This also includes the cost of an airline ticket, depending on whether you book a direct flight or with a stopover, the prices are clearly stated with each company, and you can read that these are between 500 and 650 euros.
I think it is more important to orientate yourself properly what the costs of your stay in Thailand will be.
Think of travel insurance, hotel costs, travel costs, meals.

At 333Travel you can already book longer trips to Thailand with various companies.

Bought a return AMS – BKK with Xiamen Airlines via Skyscanner for 327 euros a few days ago. Departure on May 30 and return two weeks later. Comparison pays off and sometimes you can find a nice offer in a relatively short period of time.

  17. Fransamsterdam says up

For the real bargain hunters, it may also be worthwhile to visit the site http://www.xiamenair.com to visit once. If you don't mind a stop in Xiamen, you can go to Thailand for € 345.23 for a month.
Departure May 11, return June 10. So not really an early bird offer.

I always fly KLM until now. There 9 to 11 am and back about 12 hours direct.
Average 730 Euros. With seat reservation, a minimum of 40 euros is added. Depending on how far you live from Schiphol, an alternative airport can work in your favor because you also have to include the travel costs to and from Schiphol. I live in Amsterdam, and the Schiphol bus stops in front of my door. for 2.95 Euro I am at the airport. Personally, I think a price difference of around 200 Euros, a transfer where you sometimes have to wait up to 17 hours for a connecting flight, is not worth it, but everyone should know that for themselves. Furthermore, KLM is close to home and easy to approach in case of problems.
I book and that was the question usually around 2 months before departure. Prices have never increased from my first visit to the website for the flight in question. Keep in mind that the cheapest seats are often not available when you log in because they have an option on them. when it expires, that seat is available again. So it pays to log in regularly and see what the price is at that moment.
    Success.

At D-Reizen now a ticket directly from Ams-Bangkok for 528.00 euros and no booking costs. From Eva Air.

    Hi,

A while ago I booked a ticket from Amsterdam-Bangkok via budgetair.nl for 498 euros excluding administration costs. I fly with Qatar airlines. the same flight is now 507 euros…

Install Skyscanner and/or Momondo and familiarize yourself with the application by regularly searching for different departure and return dates. Also try searching by first choosing the return date. Continue until you have to enter your payment details, then you know what the total price will be.
You can search/book up to one year before the return date.
    Prices are constantly changing.
Now (Sun 24-04 01:00 NL time) the cheapest return ticket AMS-BKK (with Swiss Air) at Travelgenio costs €529,61 via Skyscanner: outward 30-10-2016, 1 stopover of 1:30, total travel time 13: 20 pm; back 15-04-2017 1 stopover of 1:25, total travel time 14:50 OR outward 26-10-2016, 1 stopover of 1:25, total travel time 13:20; back 11-04-2017 1 stopover of 1:25, total travel time 14:50.
Also check the conditions before you pay (stopovers, baggage limit, seat selection, meal selection, rebooking costs, credit card costs, etc.).
For 5 1/2 months between departure and return, a total amount of € 575 does not seem bad to me.
    Success.

      Another:
Via Skyscanner at Gate 1 for €432,84 with Ukraine Int'l on 26-10-2017, stopover 2:45, total 15:45; back on 13-4-2017, stopover 1:05h, total 15:10h.
