Dear readers,
I have 2 questions:
First of all, can someone tell me about pins in Thailand? Last time I was there I could withdraw a maximum of 10.000 baht per day.
I'm going with my boyfriend now and we have a joint account with each of our own cards. Is it possible that we can both withdraw money with our own cards?
And the next question: I have made good friends in Thailand and would like to give them a present from the Netherlands. Two sisters who own a travel agency in Bangkok and a nice girl who owns a coffee shop in Chiang Mai. What could I really please them with?

I can just withdraw 500 euros a day in Thailand. However, depending on the exchange rate in baht!!! Furthermore, it seems to me that if you withdraw something from the same account twice, the maximum amount is also 2 euros. Duh.
Sometimes an automatic machine does not give the maximum, or nothing at all! Yes, that sometimes happens in a 2nd world country. That there isn't enough money in it, etc. It is NOT the case that you have to pay for the full application or anything!
Thai love everything. Especially smells. But real ones. For example, my wife is crazy about Guhl conditioner. (in maroon).
Most banks nowadays have a daily limit of € 250 with a foreign bank, so also for abroad.
You can increase this at your bank, and you can withdraw thB20000 again at the current rate.
What to bring for girlfriends: Chocolate.
The quality we have here, like Verkade for example, you won't find in TH, and most women love it.
In response to your comment, I bought two chocolate items at 7-eleven today, namely Swiss Dark Chocolate and Swiss White Chocolate, both from Lindt, 100 grams per package and 104 Baht each.
I think it's fine chocolate, in fairly thin, easily breakable tablets.
Perhaps a bit more expensive than in the Netherlands, but I don't want melted Verkade in my suitcase that I don't have.
The limit for guest use in the Netherlands is in any case not equal to the limit in Thailand at my bank, and with the current exchange rate I can withdraw 18.000 Baht, tomorrow perhaps 19.000 Baht.
My experience is that I can withdraw 15000 Thb per day with my world bank card from the Rabo Bank.
With my Master credit card 20.000, Thb. I did this without any problems at Bangkok Bank ATM machines
also gives the best exchange rate on your Dutch bank statement.

Probably an open door, but:
The usual tourist stuff for the two sisters: wooden shoes, windmills, tulips, etc.
Stroopwafels for the nice girl to go with coffee.
I always bring a dozen pairs of deft blue earthenware clogs of 2,5 and 4 cm (made in China) and a dozen packs of stroopwafels.
At the Action shop a shot in the rose in Delft Blue apron for the lady in the coffee bar. Brought them for our good friends who have a restaurant in Chiang Mai the other day great. What was also good was buying flowers there and giving gifts was a hit. Normally they don't buy roses cheap for us.
And one was taken out to be placed in a vase with the Buddha.
you can (at least today) withdraw a maximum of 18.000 baht per day. Some ATMs indicate 10.000, but you can change this amount by requesting “other amount”. Of course you can withdraw from the same account with 2 passes as long as you do not exceed 18000. Remember that each transaction costs 180 baht! Furthermore, the ATMs have a certain self-activity. If there is too little in it, you can pin less and less. Then cancel and try another one.
Bring a typical Dutch gadget. It's not about the value but the gesture. If you really want to give something more expensive, take them to a store and let them buy something themselves.

In Thailand you can always withdraw more than 10.000 pins at the purple or green ATM machines
your limit in NL is good. Normally our limit is 20.000, but most ATMs don't give this, so you try 19.999 and that will work.
Gift from NL …… pair of wooden tulips or a wooden clog.

From my trip report from yesterday:
For my own reference, once again a calculation of how much debit cards are more expensive than cash exchange.
Cash at TT exchange: 10.000 Baht costs 10.000 / 39.70 = € 251.89.
Pins (ATM/ING): 10.000 Baht costs 10.180 / 38.08 = € 267.33 + € 2.25 = € 269.58.
Pinning is therefore 7% more expensive if you pin 10.000 Baht at a time.
And 5.8% if you pin the maximum (now 18.000).
When the machine asks 'Do you want another service', press 'Yes', even if you don't want anything else, and when it asks whether you want to continue 'with or without conversion', choose 'without', otherwise it will be more expensive.
You can only withdraw up to 500 euros at Rabo bank.
Other banks just like in the Netherlands 250 Euro. (at guest bank)

Not correct, I can withdraw up to € 1000 at ING in the Netherlands, up to € 250 at guest banks in the Netherlands and up to € 500 in Thailand.
Your information is indeed incorrect because even with a debit card from the SNS bank you can withdraw up to 500 euros in Thailand. Not long ago, I pinned 15.000 Bath at a time.
They love Leonidas pralines (neither pure nor with a nougat filling) or speculoos from Jules Destrooper, aroy…aroy.
At Kruidvat they have delft blue tins with syrup waffles for about 2 euros (they cost at least 2 or 3 times as much at Schiphol). And a tasty and nice storage tin afterwards. Chocolate always scores, but make sure it is not already melted before you give it. I think Jamin has chocolates in the shape of tulips. It's already been said, but it's worth noting: make sure your bank card is in the world, otherwise you won't have the problem of how much you can withdraw by card :-))
The best thing to do is to call your home bank and ask what your maximum is. At ABN-AMRO it is set to 10.000 bth as standard. Perhaps you can increase the limit at the bank on request. Two different passes means paying costs twice.
