Shipping container to Thailand and then?
Dear readers,
Who knows more about shipping a container from abroad to Thailand (because of moving) to Thailand? And once it arrives in Thailand, how will it continue? Does everything have to be transferred to a Thai container or not?
Who has information about this?
Gisbertus
Editors: Do you have a question for the readers of Thailandblog? Use it contact form..
An acquaintance of mine loaded a container in Eindhoven when he emigrated to Koh Phanang and it did not have to be transferred into a Thai container. Was delivered to your doorstep. He had to make some arrangements locally due to some power cables, etc. above the road to his location on the beach.

Engage a Thai forwarding agent, for example Boonma can arrange your door-to-door transport, and clearing in and out will also be arranged.
They also arrange the company that will pack for you and in Thailand they will bring the stuff home.
You don't have to arrange much yourself. Just search Boonma in Bangkok on Google and ask for a quote.
I do not know from which country the container is shipped, but I myself shipped a container from the Netherlands to Thailand (with household goods) via https://www.sirva.com/company/office-locations. They are all over the world. Their partner in Thailand was https://www.alliedthailand.com/about-us/allied-pickfords-thailand. Of the five who quoted in the Netherlands, they were the cheapest (sometimes 20% cheaper). They come to pack and unpack. For example, they draw up an inventory list that facilitates customs clearance.
In my case, I put the agreement in the name of my (returning) Thai wife to save considerable import duties. By the way, I had to pay a fortune in import duties for bicycles. Incidentally, cheap imports are only possible once (unless you have an aquarium at Mia Noi's), and your wife must be present at customs clearance for “exemption”.
Dear Barney,
The subject of the bicycles piques my interest, as you say that you had to pay a fortune for the bicycles, now my wife inquired at the airport in Thailand and the officials told her that they could import my and my wife's bicycle, now is the question what is the reason for those import duties?
For the sake of clarity those officials were from the import duties.
With regards
At the end of 2019 my container was loaded by people from Transpack from Rotterdam,
Unloaded neatly at home in January 2020 by people from Boonma.
Excellent service from both companies
Have already used Windmill a few times. Pick up everything at home (Belgium) and deliver everything at home in Thailand. Excellent service.
You can ask both Windmill and Transpack for quotes. The calculation is done via an online connection. You go through your house with your smartphone and show which pieces - large and small - need to be shipped. Both companies pick up and deliver. You don't have to do anything yourself, not at customs, not at the carrier, nothing regarding insurance. And certainly no packing and unpacking. You can, you don't have to. It really doesn't get cheaper. Both companies can be reached via Google and their website.
