Reader question: Sightseeing and city tour in Bangkok
Dear readers,
We want to visit the reclining Buddha, Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok, do you have to pay an entrance fee for this?
Where can I book a Bangkok city tour?
I would like to know if it is easy to do on your own or by tour?
Thanks in advance for the tips.
Iris
Hello Iris,
In Bangkok and in almost all of Thailand, you will find, so to speak, on every street corner an agency that offers such viewings at a bargain price.
However, if you don't mind paying an entrance fee, feel free to reconsider your plans.
There are countless free attractions in Thailand.
Enjoy your vacation.
Didit.
Dear Iris,
You have to pay an entrance fee….but that is only a small amount…!!
Personally I like to walk… I don't know where you are staying in Bangkok….but from Hua Lamphong Central Station you can walk to your destination in less than an hour via China Town…
If you find that too far….you can take a boat taxi from the boat pier (located at the Thanon Cakraphet) in China Town over the river “Chao Phraya” to the N8 Tha Tien jetty…..from the jetty you walk in 2 minutes to the Grand Palace…
Good luck and have fun…..
Hello Iris,
Very easy :
Question 1) Yes you have to pay.
Question 2) Just about on every street corner.
Question 3) Very easy to do yourself provided you have a street plan.
Pleasant stay.
Didit.
The reclining Buddha is located in the Wat Po temple complex. The entrance fee (for tourists) is 100 baht (incl. 1 bottle of water). The Emerald Buddha is also located in the Grand Palace complex. This entrance fee is 500 baht. These complexes are within walking distance of each other. So don't get caught by a tuk tuk!
No adapted clothing is required for some po, for the grand palace you must wear long trousers/skirts!
If you want to make a guided tour through Bangkok, it is advisable to inquire first. These sights are often included in the tour. You can explore Bangkok by bicycle (search the internet for bangkok biking. There are several, each with their own accent) or on your own by Bts (metro) or express boat. You can take the express boat at various places, e.g. at the market/navy club across the street from the grand palace. Here you can also take a long tale boat (= private). This one also shows you the slums of Bangkok. Keep in mind that this is more expensive! Negotiation is definitely a must.
A real city tripper can explore Bangkok on his own. A guided tour gives you the convenience of not getting lost in this huge city. They also show you a Bangkok that you can't get out of the books.
Take a look at the site of Co van Kessel, they have very nice excursions, for example, a bike ride through China Town, highly recommended, especially a klong tour with their books, in one word, great and they have different excursions
