Reader question: What does it cost to rent a motorbike for 8 weeks?
Dear readers,
We are going to spend the winter in Cha-am and want to rent a moped there for about 8 weeks. Question: can someone tell me how much this will cost approximately in thb?
Regards,
Ingrid
8 weeks = 56 days @ 150 – 200 Bath / day = between 8.400 and 14.400 Bath
jef
correction @ 150 – 250 Bath / day
jef
I lost about 200 baht a day. price varies a lot. usually between 200 and 350 bath. with trading you can often also get a somewhat newer moped. have fun and good luck
count on around 3000bht per month
Dear Ingrid,
Depending on the place where you rent, the price can differ, as well as with a Thai or a farang.
On average you can count on 3500 baht per month
I do not rent that myself and do not rent one, but if you are here in Cha-Am I would take a look at a farang.
Personally I know someone who rents light motorcycles (minimum 100cc) so no mopeds and they are very well maintained and well insured. As I don't want to advertise, let me know and I will send you the details at your e-mail address.
Gr Sven.
Dear Ingrid
It is best to rent per month, the prices then vary between 1500 and 2500 bath.
Please note, however, that they are not moped scooters, but motor scooters and must actually have a motorcycle license.
But this has been discussed on the blog several times in the past.
Regards Richard
I pay 5000THB/month for a fairly new Honda Click
A bit of negotiating of course, but for a period of 8 weeks a price of THB100,00 per day should be possible. So THB 6000,00
I never pay more than THB 3 for 9000,00 months in Chiang Mai, I'm sure it can be cheaper, but then I'm not a super negotiator.
About 5000 THB/mo for good Honda Click
You have to count on 200 bath per day.
In the long term you can negotiate a much lower price.
There are different landlords, but I can recommend the okay shop in cha-am.
The boss (paul) is a Dutchman and that gives you more confidence to get enough information in your own language. He has a website with the necessary contact details.
Also welcome to my coffee shop “sole club” in soi longbeach.
Greetings
Look up http://cha-am-rentals.com/scooters/
All prices are listed here.
From about ThB3000 per month.
Put on a helmet and make sure you have a motorcycle license, otherwise it will be much more expensive.
Not only because of the fines, but especially if something goes wrong. You are not insured without a helmet and/or driver's license.
Come to Cha-am yourself to rent a moped 200 Bath per day
There is a large supermarket the name is OKAY on the busy road if your back looks away from the sea it is on the left it is a Dutchman there I know these mopeds are well made
Wear a helmet. We are going to Cha-am Vila Hotel in February
per day 300 baht
1000 baht per week
3000 baht per month
Do go to the ANWB for an international driving license with photo and say for a moped in Thailand
Wandt that's what the police ask if there's a kotrole
do it
Dear Alma, you are inciting someone here to break the law.
If you do not have a Dutch motorcycle license, you should not rent a scooter in Thailand.
Without a valid driver's license you are still NOT insured in the event of an accident, not even for repatriation to the Netherlands. This recently cost a young Englishman who suffered a spinal cord injury in Thailand more than 20,000 euros to get home due to an accident.
This is checked by the travel insurance!
Dear Jasper, do I even need a motorcycle license to rent a scooter? Don't rent a motorcycle. Would love to hear from you and a link would be perfect. Thank you
Thailand has no distinction, the driver's license-free, max. 50cc scooters / mopeds category as you have it in NL does not exist there.
At OK supermarket here in Cha-am 2900 baht per month.Honda click with insurance.
I (Rick de Bies) can also recommend the OK supermarket.
This person is Dutch and owner of a supermarket and very reasonable in price.
Everyone in Cha Am knows him.
Good luck and have a nice holiday,
Gr. Rick.
You can usually make a deal with those people.
check the moped for (paint) damage before you take it with you.
When are you going we will be there from November to March we want you
Helping to a good address, about 100/150 Bath per day. We pay 100 per day but also rent for 5 months.
Yes around 150 Bath per day.
In Pattaya I always rent here. Very reliable!!
