Reader Submission: Buying Insulin in Bangkok

As a medical specialist, it may also happen that you want to buy an insulin pen just to be on the safe side. On this blog I had read that it could become a time-consuming activity.

Usually I can get by with Insulatard, but the time difference means I need more Novorapid than I had on me. Casually I asked at some pharmacies in a TescoLotus complex. Businesses such as Boots and Watson (=Kruidvat) are drugstores with a tiny department for prescriptions. They don't have fridges to store insulin and there is no question anyway. Sometimes they can tell you where to go.

I met a pharmacist at Central Chidlom, who gave me the address of a pharmacy opposite the Red Cross Hospital, where I got the Novorapid raft (pack of ice with it). Please note: the pharmacist in Central warned not to go to a hospital. "That will cost you a lot of time and money." I also deduced that from the earlier post in Thailandblog.

I have been buying it from Farma Choice in Chiang Mai for years, no problem. The best place for all your medicines.
