Looking at houses from readers (9)
Introducing our “tiny house” in the Isaan, we are just the two of us so big enough for us. Now it was built 4 years ago by a contractor from Udon Thani, at the time still under the supervision of my (unfortunately deceased) father-in-law.
Spacious living room with open kitchen, small outdoor kitchen under shelter, a spacious bedroom with small terrace, 2 bathrooms, one of which has an exit to the outside, second bathroom with bath, 1 carport suitable for 2 passenger cars.
Total cost upon completion, 750.000 THB.

Dear reader, have you also had a house built in Thailand? Send a photo with some information and the costs to [email protected] and we post it.
Looks like a beautiful house, with its own characteristic appearance. You chose reality and built the space you needed and not a castle in the air for status. Unfortunately you see that all too often. The outdoor event looks magnificent. Would also like to see a few pictures of the inside of the house to get a complete picture. Wishing you a lot of living pleasure for now and in the future.
That house is not that tiny now.
But I think your father-in-law has built a nice house.
Looks very nice Eduard….I would also like to build such a house (I have already bought land near Udon Thani)
Could you give me the name and address of the contractor and possibly a drawing of your house?
Thanks in advance
Piet
My email address is [email protected]
Here you will find the drawing of the house, mind you, it was not my choice as a contractor, I hired someone else for that, in principle any contractor in Thailand can build this through this drawing.

Model, TMM147
Regards, Edward.
Very nice Eduard, I would also like to build a house like this. Would you be so kind
to also be able to provide me with the name of the contractor and if possible with the construction drawing.
That would be very nice, thanks in advance. You can email the information to [email protected]
kind regards Hendrik.
Hi Thailand John,
Will pass on the question to my brother-in-law in Udon, he was partly responsible for the construction of our house, he also has the construction drawings, I hope, in his possession.
Regards, Edward.
Really nice and nice house, but I seem to see another roof,
is it about the picture or the picture?
and the price in that only the bare construction or is everything already included.
regards dirk
This is the top photo, we opted for wavy roof tiles, which we thought fit better with the design, the price was basically 700.000 THB all in, but due to additional work, including widening the bedroom by 90 cm, which also helped to shape the roof slightly. has changed, the price went up by 50.000 THB .
Regards, Edward.
Dear Edward,
Very nice house as well as the front yard. Unbelievable that you were able to achieve this for that price.
More living pleasure
Well, I still have disbelief, so our great thanks go to my (deceased) father-in-law and his sons, they were the ones who made our wish come true.
Nice house and good price. Well done!
So, a beautiful house, especially for that price and in a European style
beautiful living doesn't have to cost a million.
and small is fine.
Don't think it's possible anymore for that price, costs have been going up quite a bit lately.
But still
Want to build for , under a million is still possible.
enjoy living in your home
Dear Edward,
Very nice.
The costs will indeed come close.
As a result of the expansion, the price goes up rapidly.
We are still doing the expansion (the house is never finished).
The prices vary a lot and it depends on what you want.
Lots of living pleasure.
Yours faithfully,
Erwin
Edward.
A beautiful house. Not very big but certainly not tiny I think. Tiny Houses are usually described as between 15 and 50 m² and Small Houses as having a living space of up to 90 m². I can't imagine that your description of your "Tiny house" fits this.
Can you explain why I call our house “tiny house”, taken together Farangs build fairly large houses, this is no different here in Udon, they sometimes get together to have a chat, that is what I recently heard that they were talking about me, they called me the Dutchman with the tiny house, I had to laugh about it, some in Udon will read along here, then they can read from most of the reactions that it is not that tiny.
Regards, Edward.
For those who still want to start building a number of tips;
Make sure your roof overhangs well enough so that you don't get the sun on the walls and windows.
I myself had small fans installed in the outer wall that you often see in toilets. Have them placed the other way around at 10 cm above the floor. When it is very hot I turn it on in the evening and therefore I do not have to use air conditioning in my house. I also have his CRAZY as they call it here on the roof to extract warm air above the ceiling. It works on bi-metall and therefore requires no electricity. Bi-metall is a temperature setting that works fully automatically. During the day it really works like crazy, so it rotates and later in the evening / night it stops. Above the ceiling never warmer in the evening after about 9 hours than 25 to 26 degrees.
I have been living in this house for 13 years now and have never used air conditioning, I also get sick quickly from the air conditioning, so that's why. The air conditioning is on in the car, but very low, at 26 to 27 degrees.
sorry I don't quite understand your "fans but place them the other way around" now in Belgium we have mandatory ventilation in the bathroom when renovating or new construction and the intention is to suck the hot air out so in fact "normally installed" is what you want say?
Kind regards, Pratana
The message is from 2 years ago but the theory a bit longer 🙂
Cold air is heavier than warm air, so it hangs near the ground and if that comes in, the warm air in the house will get a lower temperature at a certain point. I wonder if it helps in every situation.
The reason for building on stilts was once that it is cool during the day under the house, that sleeping upstairs with windows open due to wind was also doable and that it was also doable with floods.
In itself we do not differ much from a chimpanzee, but humanity knows better, many within humanity think.
https://nl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimpansee
I think there is a big difference between the drawing and the final result. Or am I wrong?
Dear Paul,
You can't see that wrong, there is a difference, but the difference is small, this may be because the carport in the top photo is partially out of sight, because there is still a carport attached to the house of 600×900 cm with an identical roof construction .
Regards, Edward.
For people who want to get inspired, the following is a nice website. It is admittedly in Thai, but on the left you can choose from the price ranges, for example 1-3 million, and then you will be presented with some photos and a drawing with a layout.

What a nice site indeed! Live in Indonesia, but probably has potential here too. Even without understanding the Thai language, pictures and plans with dimensions are already interesting to many, I think. Have already forwarded it to someone who is in the construction of private houses 🙂
Hi Edward,
Yes, a beautiful house, you can certainly be happy with it.
I'm curious about the walls, what material are they made of. Want to build a small house in the backyard for guests, and am figuring out which materials are good and cheap!
Just a room, bathroom and kitchen in living/bedroom. 4,5 x 5 meters + small veranda
A good contractor is also worth gold, but do you know one near Udon Thani?
All tips are welcome
Thanks everyone who responds
Kind regards, Arno

Peter,
Beautiful house and very competitive price, they only build a garage box for that in the Netherlands.
Really a very nice house, maybe you can show a few more pictures of the inside??
I would very much like to receive more information from you about the contractor and dimensions of the house, if possible.
[email protected]
Here you will find some more information

If this is a tiny house, what should we call our 20 square meter house?
Saw the house pass here in 2018 and still think it's beautiful.
Think a lot of light through all those windows / doors
Still looks like a rock, recently got a new coat of paint, but kept the same color, fits perfectly in the green, have been renting a fully furnished second home for a while now because of the incomprehensible Dutch law "two-home rule" For your information, I now have a had an inspection visit from the Netherlands by two people from the SVB, it was a good conversation with the result that everything was found to be in order, but despite that I will keep my second home, because you never know, the extra costs for a second home I take it for granted, it also has advantages.
