So back again for a while. The trip to Thailand started some time ago with the purchase of a plane ticket. My preference is EVA Air. I'm lucky enough to get a good night's sleep almost anywhere, and woke up for breakfast after my eight hours of sleep. Still a few hours to go.

Upon arrival at Bangkok airport, go to Super Rich to exchange money. Walked back to the departure hall at entrance 1 to book my onward journey at Thai Smile. I never buy this ticket in advance, and it is therefore a bit more expensive. Now paid 1800 baht for the trip to Khon Kaen. What I never understood is that you can also book a first class on this plane. Who is going to pay first class for a journey of just over an hour? Maybe the sandwich you get on board has a lower color than mine? This time color was green.

Khon Kaen airport is revamping, possibly with more destinations coming soon. Other things never seem to change. Upon arrival I see the man who plays taxi with his own car. Have used his services once. For the agreed price of 200 baht he would take me to my destination. A few hundred meters before the final destination, the man stopped and asked me to pay 400 baht. After a small exchange of words, he accepted the 200 baht and brought me to my destination.

Fortunately, I now own a car. My wife's daughter drives it when I am in the Netherlands. Now that I'm back at the wheel myself, I turn on the windshield wipers when the direction is indicated, it takes some getting used to. I quickly adapt to driving on the left. I see even more advantages than driving on the right. Especially with merging and exiting on the highway.

Arrived in the village. The house we built in the yard is almost ready, except for the furnishing and the connection to the main power supply. For now we sleep in the old house. What is also so beautiful about Thailand, the choice for an interior is easy to make. Along the main road to Bang Fang you have several companies making furniture. Kind of like Ikea. Bought everything at a company in Bang Fang. And the same day everything was neatly put in place in our new house. Although our bed was wrong according to my wife, it was with the foot of the bed towards death. I didn't know this was possible, but I turned the bed differently myself. Even then it didn't look right, the foot of the bed pointed to the picture of my mother on the wall. Picture hung elsewhere.

Then the power supply and Kees is ready. For the power supply, first to the office where the bill must also be paid to arrange this. Installing the meter costs 3500 baht. Then you still have to make the power supply from the house to the electricity meter, about 100 meters away. Costs incl. material poles and power wire etc. and labor 20.000 baht.

Not much comes of the silence in the countryside. Someone joins a monk and that means many speakers join. Tomorrow everything will be quiet again

Greetings from Isan

20.000 seems pretty expensive to me. For 30.000 I fitted my entire house with pipes, outlets and main box. 4 bedrooms, livingroom, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and two outside contacts.. but maybe it's a main cable.

Price is also higher due to labor costs, two large concrete piles of about three meters must be placed above ground level to lay the power cable above the road
      poles cost 3000 baht each
      Labor totaled 8000 baht,
then there are several small poles and iron plates with insulators and the power cable two hundred meters long.
If your house is close to the main power supply, it will certainly be a lot cheaper

In the house itself, all electricity has already been installed, by myself
      was only material costs,
with the group cabinet for 2000 baht being the largest item.

    Dear Pete,
I've had my driver's license for over 50 years. Try to explain to me why merging and exiting the highway is easier with left-hand traffic.
Or do you mean that once you have turned your front wheels to the left, so when merging, you no longer have to worry about whether there is still some traffic on the road? That should slow down or make a jerk to the right?

Doesn't flying 1st class give more freedom of luggage?

And it happens to me too, getting the windshield wiper and turn signal mixed up.
And when back in NL get used to it again.

So recognizable Piet, only Khon Kaen is growing 12 years ago but 3 flights a day Thai Airways now many more and the city is getting higher and higher and traffic busier haha.
