SMS Thai

by Hans Bosch

A few times a week I receive a text message from True Online, with a message in it ภาษาไทย about internet. I can't read the messages and disturb them to a great extent. So I want to let True know that I want to stay away from this superfluous nonsense in the future. In the past I have already had my number blocked for advertising texts that came in one after the other and for which I sometimes even had to pay for each time. They were about music on my phone, lotteries or daily messages from fortune tellers. So nonsense.

So I first turn to True Online, also the provider for my internet connection. There a lady ('for badly spoken English, press 9') explains to me that the text messages are sent by True, but that this is done under contract with my provider, in this case One 2 Call (AIS). So that's where I have to go. She now asks for my internet connection, the login code and even the brand of my mobile phone. What is that necessary for now?

So I called 1175, where I get something in 20 languages. Eventually I am transferred to a lady who knows that my number has been blocked for advertising texts. The problem is that the True messages are not regarded as advertising texts, but as announcements. So they go outside the blockade. Anyone who understands the logic can say it. In the meantime, calling True and AIS has already cost me a few euros. The worse the service, the more often the customers want to file their complaints, the more money these companies make. And I still get text messages from True Online.

Strange, I have the same experience, previously had an AIS subscription where I was crazy about text messages from the provider and thought I was smart with a prepaid card. Now after about 1 year the same shit, extremely annoying. Don't bother to get it undone anymore, because I have the same kind of annoyance with my ADSL connection, and after calling a dozen times I have given up hope. TIT. aka This Is Thailand

I have had a one to call SIM card for 2 years and no advertising messages
