I regularly browse the internet to find interesting articles on all kinds of media and in newspapers, magazines and the like, which I can use to inform the readers of Thailandblog. As if there is no corona crisis time, I do indeed regularly come across tourist stories about unspoilt beaches with relaxing resorts, beautiful mountain walks, interesting bike rides, good and also exquisite restaurants and the like. Excellent material for people who are preparing a holiday in Thailand.

In addition, now that it is the time of the corona crisis, all these attractions are sometimes offered at huge discounts. But, for whom then? Many people, who would like to make use of it, cannot travel to Thailand due to travel restrictions. So the Thai population and foreigners residing in Thailand remain as target groups. The Thai government sees it that way and promotes domestic tourism.

This is said to have some effect on the Thai, but what about those foreigners? If I consider myself, I have no desire to explore beautifully landscaped hiking or biking trails anywhere in Thailand, take a boat trip to small islands in the south of Thailand, visit Bangkok or other historic cities.

Not that I wouldn't want it, but the current daily life with all the misery you see around you, holds me back. Hotels often remain closed, as do restaurants, bars, shops and Pattaya offers a sad sight when you take a walk through what are otherwise busy streets. And if a restaurant is already open, you run the risk of being the only visitor. What is not immediately visible are the countless unemployed people who do not know today what they will eat tomorrow. Many (foreign) entrepreneurs who try to keep their heads above water with their business or have already had to give up financially. It won't be much different elsewhere in Thailand, I'm afraid.

No, no domestic travel adventures for me for now, what about you? Another domestic holiday trip planned other than visiting family? I'm curious!

It's also stopping me from traveling at the moment.
Because I don't have to go on holiday for peace because I live between the rice fields.
I like to go to busy beach places like pattaya and phuket.
It does tickle so maybe I'll go unexpectedly from winter.
Booking a hotel and flight will not be a problem.
And I don't need the groups of Chinese and Russians for fun.

Like Koos, I don't feel the need to travel at the moment. I stay at home in Lopburi between the corn and sugar cane fields. Use the time to finish our house and enjoy the peace here. An occasional trip to the city is enough for me. Maybe it will tickle, but I don't like tourist places like Puket, etc

Many Thai tourists who came to Pattaya left angry and disappointed later.

Due to the unclear indications, many motorists on Pattaya Beach got a wheel clamp. The middle class was angry with the municipality because that way you also kill domestic tourist income!

Another incident was that a Thai man gave directions where and how to park. Then he asked for money in an intimidating way, which some people also did afraid of aggression!

The beaches were appreciated very differently.

I'm just going to take a day or 4 or 5 off every month, but not to Pattaya or the like, but into the parks. Wonderful stay in the mountains or jungle. Relaxed travel with few buses and minivans on the road.
Occupancy rate usually around 35%. No waiting at the counters. It may stay that way for a while.

Do you plan on doing domestic trips by car? 2 weeks ago we did a nice tour in Buriram / Surin area. And also some tours Chonburi and Rayong. Plan now Chaam, Hua Hin and maybe on to Krabi. Now is the perfect time. The roads are quiet, the hotels cheap. OK, in touristy places chances are you are the only tourist. But then you don't have to stand in line. And you support the local population, hotels, restaurants, etc

How I miss my trips with my girlfriend in Saraburi, Lopburi and surroundings, pfffff.
We have been separated for 6 months already, we are looking forward to seeing each other again.
But it won't be for the next few months, normally I'm with her in Saraburi every 2 months, 10 days…..

Great to travel during this time and the middle classes that are open can help a little bit.
Been to Pattaya for 4 days, pleasantly busy and 99% Thais who all approached me kindly, as well as the staff of the Hotels and Restaurants.
I will definitely travel more this year (Koh Tao, Phuket, all from Hua Hin) I personally love it so quiet!

It is a pity that many apparently only know Pattaya and Phuket.
That must be a coincidence right?
In any case, I enjoy the peace in nature around Hua Hin…
Sam Roi Yot and Kaeng Krachan are fantastic areas.
And with my Pajero 4×4 with money gears I drive through rivers over mountains and through valleys to the border with Myanmar. I support the local shops and eat the most delicious (sometimes very bad) things in their local shabby restaurants.

    Phuket andPattaya???? Daaaagggggg

Because it was announced that the Pattaya province coasts would be closed to any service on September 8, 9 and 10, we fly to Koh Samet. On Tuesday afternoon I was told that this decision has been postponed for 3 months. Oh Thai government why is this not done sooner had I not gone to the almost completely deserted Koh Samet. My resort was open but no breakfast buffet but a plate of good food. In the afternoon the restaurant is closed and in the evening there is a limited menu. Other facilities are closed. I was already here in 2017 but what a difference and the covid case shouldn't take too long otherwise catch dueang is also a ruin

After it was possible to travel through Thailand again and leave your own Changwat, spent quite a few days in Thailand, such as Kanchanaburi, Chasoengsao, Rayong, own Chonburi and so on. Nice tour with the truck. Wonderfully quiet on the beaches and spoiled for choice. Enjoy fishing in the sea and the fishing lakes. Just a little while and then it will be possible to do the minimarathons again and the first is planned for the end of this month in Jomtien, then I can perform my sport as needed and I can plan even more trips and combine them with the runs throughout the country.

I would like to travel, but I teach in Narathiwat, which is more than 1000 km from Bangkok. I'm only free on Friday and Sunday, so check it out.
Unfortunately we will have to wait for November when I will hopefully have a few weeks off. My partner and I hope to fly to Northern Thailand and tour there by car. Either around Sukhothai, or from Chiang Mai, via Pai, do the Mae Hong Son loop. It will be quiet in many places, but that is a bonus in my opinion. Thai style resorts can always be found.
Nowadays I have nothing to do with Pattaya and my partner doesn't want to be found dead there yet. So we skip that side. Anyway, I never liked that environment.

I am very happy in Pattaya, Danzig, but I don't want to go there yet
      be found dead!

      • I can understand that Danzig's partner does not want to go to Pattaya. This is usually due to jealousy. There are so many beautiful girls walking around there, they are terrified that the farang will start drooling, or even worse, start throwing flowers.

My partner wanted to take a look there, she was curious what those white noses were doing there exactly. So when we visited a-GoGo together and discussed which of the ladies on stage was the most beautiful. Was such a nice evening / night together, that I might want to put the flowers outside, she wasn't afraid of. Was only a 1 day stop over when we visited Ko Laan for a short break. Never felt the need to visit Pattaya again, I don't like it there, but to each his own. I prefer to travel around the north or the Isaan. Fortunately, not everyone goes there.

The wife and I have, as a kind of replacement for our annual vacation
in the Netherlands (which of course was canceled now) from 12 to 26 August a nice one
made a tour through (mainly) the north of Thailand with your own car.
First place to stay overnight was Loei, followed by Nan, Chiang Mai, Kamphaeng Pet
and Pak Chong. The hotels were fairly occupied everywhere, in Nan (on weekdays !!!)
even almost full, just like in Chian Mai (but that was on the weekend). so was the breakfast
well arranged everywhere, usually in the form of a breakfast buffet. We had the impression that
quite a lot of Thai could or wanted to feel under the influence of "Thai-thiew-Thai".
to afford. For those of you who know Thailand a little better, that will be clear
we have visited especially beautiful mountainous regions / provinces. Especially Loei and Nan
stand out, in my opinion. Good roads everywhere, and very beautiful landscapes
and vistas! In short, in a few months perhaps a kind of repetition!
