A “different” girl from the Isaan
Well, how many clichés have already appeared on this blog about the girls from the Isaan?
The ladies from this area, ravaged by poverty, lack of work, bad experiences with Thai men, come to Pattaya to hook a farang (with money). They develop into bargirls and turn into money wolves, who will do everything they can to steal their money from one or more farangs. All means are allowed to achieve that goal.

A large number of these contacts lead to relationships that are sometimes short, but often longer. It is even possible, as in my own case, that it leads to a new family life for both parties with a house, sufficient income and children. You would wish it on everyone, both a Thai young lady and the usually older farang.
Kai (fictitious name), a girl now 25 years old, from Mukdahan would like that too. She has been working in Megabreak, the pool hall, for a few years now, receives guests, sets up the balls and takes care of the drinks. Six days a week, long days often deep into the night, which gives her a monthly income of - I estimate - 9.000 to 10.000 baht. Satisfied? Yes, she does, but she would love to meet a good farang, marry him and build a family life and that just won't work.
Kai comes from a normal family, father, mother and three children. Father works and the family is not really poor. Kai has studied and completed a "marketing" at the local university. Because there was no work in her hometown, she moved to Pattaya on the advice of her brother - who works in a car factory in Rayon. Not to work in a bar, but in a place where many foreigners come and so found the job in Megabreak.

I have a good relationship with Kai, I hardly dare say it, but I am also a little in love with her. She is a beautiful girl, beautiful eyes and a very charming appearance. If I were younger and not already in a relationship, I would make "work" of her, but age-wise, I could almost be her grandfather. Being in love is therefore not about lust, but I would like to have her as a daughter.
Kai is a bit of a closed type, she doesn't talk much, at least not with foreigners, but little by little she tells me what she feels and what she would like. She knows my Thai wife and our son and sees our relationship as a dream for herself. “I want a man like you, you are a good man.” Well, that's right, I'm a "good man" (ha, ha!), but finding a similar copy is not easy. You have to look for that and with trial and error, maybe you will succeed.
Not many relationships
Aside from once being a childhood boyfriend, Kai hasn't had many relationships. Once with an Irishman for a few months, but that turned out to be a “butterfly” in her opinion. Occasionally she did go out with another foreigner, but that always led to nothing. She actually wants to meet the “man in shining armor” right away, but – as she says – apparently all farangs are only after one thing, guess what!
I told her that, yes, all men come to Pattaya for sex and alcohol, but that certainly includes men who want a serious relationship. At first they may behave like a "butterfly", but that is mainly intended to find the right partner. She should do the same, just like some of her colleagues, be more free towards men, go out more, gain experiences and who knows, “the prince” will suddenly appear.
The future will tell, she really deserves a good man, because she is “another girl from Isaan”.

It is doubtful whether the megabreak hall is such a successful place. A lot of holiday and bar guests are looking for short-term contacts and certainly do not want to commit themselves. The foreigner as an ideal man is also a lottery ticket, so it is not easy to find. Thailand has a bad reputation to uphold and attracts many types who are certainly not suitable for her. This will mainly affect them and make them despondent. By the way, there are certainly good Thai men who are going for a serious relationship. But then money should not dominate. My wife's brothers-in-law are all made of the right cloth and are not busy drinking beer every day and looking for mio nois and gigs. It is often impossible if these types of ladies do not receive help in finding a good foreigner. But it is to her credit to stay out of the prostitution scene and I think she is more likely to go to something communal like a sports club or tourist activities. But then you have to be sporty and that is not the case for everyone.
