Food manufacturers are very lavish with sugar. Large amounts of sugar are added to many products such as breakfast cereals, dairy drinks, cereal bars, fruit juices and ready-made sauces. A bottle of ketchup can contain as many as 45 sugar cubes. Too much sugar is unhealthy, it can lead to obesity and a greater risk of type 2 diabetes.

In the Netherlands, we consume an average of 1,5 to 2 times more sugar than is good for us every day: about 20 sugar cubes per day, while the World Health Organization advises not to consume more than 12,5 (women) or 15 sugar cubes ( men) to enter. The food industry does little to reduce the amount of sugars in our diet, which is why the Diabetes Fund has started an action on Facebook, the 'sugar recall'. Consumers can designate products that, according to the Diabetes Fund, contain an unnecessarily high amount of sugars. Return products that do not meet your expectations, says the fund.

More than a million Dutch people have type 2 diabetes and more than a thousand are added every week. The high average sugar intake is an important cause for the development of this disease, according to the Diabetes Fund.

I am a type 2 diabetes patient myself and there is a new diuretic pill Forxiga on the market and it is also nice
further developed according to the Diabetes Research Center and Declare trial, so responsible for type 2 diabetics. The advantage of this is that due to the active substance dapaglifloxine a
significant reduction in sugar is passed out and also not unimportant: weight loss.
In the long term, all these effects may contribute to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease in diabetes.
Forxiga can be well combined with Metformin and is also reimbursed
    by the health insurer.

My husband has also been prescribed this medicine by the Thai doctor
Seems to be expensive if you have to pay for it yourself

And that is why the nutritional value under “carbohydrates” also states the amount of sugar. This next to the ingredients declaration, where the ADDED ingredients are stated. (since the 80's). So please read in the store.

Indeed, there are many hidden sugars.
Now that my husband has also had type 2 for several months, you really pay attention to it.
Fruit juices, which supposedly contain no added sugar, still contain 11 to 14% sugar.
Now he drinks tomato juice. 3%. is a big difference.
As long as you don't have diabetes, you don't think about it that quickly.
Eating ice cream contains so much sugar that he now just ignores it.
We now really pay much more attention to the sugars
