Dear Martin,
I am 60 and have type 2 diabetic. My meds are glucophage, diamicron and Forxiga. I have been suffering from itching and rashes on my genitals for quite some time now.
Can't be STD. I am also circumcised. Now I read that this can be caused by the Forxiga.
What do you advise me?
Regards,
N.

Dear N.
You probably have a fungal or yeast infection. This is a common condition in diabetes.
Forxiga (Dapagliflozin) is currently in the spotlight and not because it is such a good drug. The combination with diamicron gives a greater risk of hypoglycaemia (too low blood sugar). Here's an overview: www.farmacotherapeutischkompas.nl/browser/preparationtexts/d/dapagliflozin
If possible I would switch to other means.
For the rash, you can try using Mycozole (clotrimazole) powder, after shower. Shower, dry with hair dryer or fan and then powder. Twice a day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Maarten
