Dear Martin,

I am 68 years old and have had thrombosis several times. Have been living in the Isaan for over 1 year. Take acenacoumarol, do tests yourself and the thrombosis service sends me a weekly email about how much I have to take per day. That self-testing is no longer possible because I no longer have strips. If I had a different drug before the test, I didn't have to keep checking.

What is a good remedy that I can buy here?

Regards,

J.

Dear J,

I recommend that you consult a hematologist at a hospital. You probably had a NOAC (Novel Anticoagulant), which did not require you to test. For example, Xarelto (rivaroxaban), Pradaxa (dabigatran), Eliquis (apixaban), or Lixiana (edoxaban).

You can switch to that, but then measurements must be taken in the beginning, so that you can get a problem with acenocoumarol and one of the other substances together.

Ask for the cheapest remedy. That's no worse than the others.

Maybe the readers know, where you can buy comics for the Coaguchek?

If acenocoumarol is not available in Thailand, you can switch to Warfarin. It must then be reset.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Maarten
