Dear Martin,

I fell and have a lot of pain in my upper arm and back. I've already had cortisone injections and they don't help. They want to do an MRI scan now, but I am 2 meters tall and 100 kg. The machine is so small that I wanted to get out of it after 2 minutes.

They now want to put me under anesthesia, which I don't like because in the Netherlands I don't have any problems with it.

But do you know if there is a bigger MRI machine in Thailand.

Regards,

M.

Dear M,

Look on Google for wide bore MRI. Then you will find hospitals with open and/or wider MRIs. 3 Tesla gives better quality than less, but that is not always important. Certainly not with muscles etc.

Sincerely,

Dr. Maarten

Question 2.

I immediately followed your advice and I came across something super. Do you know this system? I am very interested in this. I don't care about the cost. I want to get rid of the pain. An open MRI machine.

What do you think about this?

Question 3.

Sorry to bother you again. But I also have a hernia in the Netherlands, she did not want to operate. Now I saw a solution for my hernia on the same website I would like your advice. You are neutral and you have no interest in this. That's why I appreciate your advice.

Sorry again, but when I'm at Bangkok hospital, I sometimes find that the money plays a role in an advice.

Regards,

M.

Dear M.

Open machines have been around for a long time. The disadvantage is that they make less beautiful pictures.

I have no opinion on your hernia due to lack of information and MRIO reports.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Maarten
