Study: Low testosterone levels increase mortality risk in older men
We previously wrote about the many clinics in Pattaya, among others, where men can have their testosterone levels measured and possibly supplement them with injections or a gel.
Low testosterone can lead to various symptoms, such as reduced muscle mass, increased body fat, lower libido and erectile dysfunction. Fatigue, sleep problems and hair loss can also occur. In addition, mental symptoms such as depressive feelings, reduced concentration and memory problems are possible. Men can feel less motivated and self-confident. A blood test can confirm whether low testosterone is the cause, and treatments such as testosterone therapy can help.
Low testosterone levels in men increase risk of premature death
Men with low testosterone are even more likely to die prematurely, especially from cardiovascular disease. This is according to a study that followed no fewer than 24.000 men from Australia, Europe and North America (source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38739921/). The participants were between 49 and 76 years old and their hormone levels were measured. For at least five years, researchers kept track of who died, when, and from what.
What did it turn out? Men with the lowest testosterone levels had a 9% higher risk of dying from any cause. The risk of dying from cardiovascular disease was even 32% higher. For those with a testosterone level below 7.4 nmol/L (213 ng/dL), the risk of all-cause mortality was increased. If the level dropped below 5.3 nmol/L (153 ng/dL), the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease increased significantly.
In addition to testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a more powerful hormone, was also examined. A U-shaped relationship was discovered: both too low and too high levels of DHT were associated with a higher risk of death. In addition, a high level of Sex Hormone Binding Globulins (SHBGs), proteins that inactivate testosterone, was also associated with a higher risk of death.
This ties in with what has been discovered previously: low testosterone can lead to cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, decreased muscle strength, and even dementia. Studies also show that correcting low testosterone with hormone therapy in men over 40 can reduce the risk of death.

Prostate cancer increases under the influence of the male hormone testosterone. By switching off this hormone, the growth of cancer cells is slowed in 80% of patients and any (bone) pain can be relieved.
My doctor also points this out, I talked about it. So yeah, what then?
On the one hand good, on the other hand bad.
If you have prostate cancer, you should of course not start using testosterone unless you have consulted a doctor.
That is chemical castration, but doctors do not dare to call it that. I have seen what this did to my father. For 14 years he received an injection every month to suppress his testosterone level. He was 78 at the time, 14 years old with a very low quality of life due to muscle and strength loss, even having a heart valve replaced (the heart is also a muscle). I know several old men who have received the same treatment. The genitals also shrink back to child size. Scandalous treatment, inhumane. They do not even dare to apply this to sex offenders. And no, my father did not die of prostate cancer, but of old age and weakness, he did not reach the age of 92.
I have very low testosterone levels, about the level of a woman of over 50,18ng/dl. However, this is due to the hormone injections I received after the treatment for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer needs testosterone to develop. I received 5 injections, each of which lasts for 6 months. The last one should wear off in a month. Let me hope so, because the side effects of low testosterone, described at the beginning of the article, are common. Fortunately, I am not depressed yet. Now let's hope that it shoots back up, although the urologist told me that it will not happen overnight. She spoke of about 3 months.
Testosterone supplementation in men can significantly increase estradiol, leading to the formation of breast tissue.

I tried it for 3 months (TRT). Didn't notice anything regarding libido, but total and free testosterone went up. Unfortunately my estradiol went from under 40 to 160. Stopped immediately.
I just increased my strength training.
