Nightlife in Bangkok: Wild and Insane!
The nightlife in Bangkok is world famous and is known for being wild and crazy. Of course we know about the infamous adult entertainment spots, but that's just part of the nightlife. Going out in Bangkok can be compared to the nightlife in hip cities in Europe: trendy clubs with DJs, attractive roof terraces, hip cocktail bars and much more entertainment color the night in the sultry capital.
Well-known entertainment areas for tourists are undoubtedly Khao San Road and Rambuttri Alley. Here, tourists indulge in booze and music, full of devotion. The well-known buckets (buckets with alcohol mixes) are in great demand here. For loud pop and dance music, check out Brick Bar, Mulligans Irish Bar and Molly 31st. Nice if you want to avoid the crowds and meet western tourists.
Young (Thai) revelers flock to Royal City Avenue (RCA), where you will find a long row of trendy clubs near Rama 9 Road. You will find international DJs, live music from local bands, but also live concerts and exuberant parties. You should definitely visit Route 66 and Slim if you are looking for a hip club.
Sukhumvit Road offers you a more diverse range of entertainment options. Most bars are concentrated in the busy areas near the BTS Skytrain and MRT metro stations. Sukumvit Soi 11 stands out thanks to its many restaurants, bars and clubs.
Nana (Sukhumvit Soi 3) and Soi Cowboy (Asoke Intersection) are also in this area and are well-known “Red Light” districts. Here you will not only meet ladies of easy virtue, you can also enjoy live music. Like at Hillary Bar 2 (near Nana), it is buzzing with energy and the bar guarantees excellent music entertainment. A live band performs every evening.
Also check out Check Inn 99 on Sukhumvit Road (opposite the Landmark Hotel). This original Bangkok Cabaret Bar and restaurant dates back to the 60s, making it the oldest bar and nightclub in Bangkok. You can enjoy the famous Filipino band “Music of the Heart”. The more than excellent cover band plays golden oldies, modern hits, dance music and above all has a lot of fun.
The locals' favorite destinations are around the area of Thonglor (Sukhumvit Soi 55) and Ekkamai (Sukhumvit Soi 63). These areas are not only home to many luxurious apartment complexes, but also many fine restaurants, wine bars and nightclubs. Nanglen & Escobar, Funky Villa & Demo, Bottom Up and Octave Rooftop Bar are the favorite hangout spots among the locals.
Silom Road is also a popular place for a drink. Patpong is seen as a 'gay-friendly' entertainment area, but it mainly revolves around prostitution.
World-famous roof terraces in Silom are: the Skybar @ Lebua State Tower or Cloud 47. Pricey, but you can enjoy an unparalleled view of Bangkok by night with a drink.
Don't go out too late, many nightspots in Bangkok have to close at 2.00am. But when the pubs and clubs close, you can, just like the locals, enjoy a delicious Thai dish at a street food stall.

we went to the bangkok beat last year in soi 7 there is also live music and we thought it was great fun and cozy.
Unfortunately. Bangkok beat is closed.
I think it was soi 7/1 then. Club is called Bangkok Beat. German Beer Garden is located in soi 7, but as far as I know there is no live music there.
soi 7 is in sukhumvit
Checkin 99 has moved and is now located in suk soi 11, above Zak's winebar. Nana nightlife can be found in soi 4, soi 3 is “little Arab” with its many Middle Eastern restaurants.
Check inn 99 moved to sukumvit soi 11 a few months ago. http://checkinn99.com/
I think Check Inn 99 has been closed for over 1 year. The well-known Philippine band is said to have split up and some musicians are now playing in a disco on Sukhumvit 11.
A lesser known day and night activity are the numerous “soapy massage parlors” mainly in the Rachada district. Driving around at night you see the lush illuminations of sometimes giant entertainment complexes that shoot up like palaces. Who will go out to write a nice report about this in various episodes. I want to but my budget is insufficient….
Bangkok Beats is now closed and replaced by a re-established New Wave (pool bar Soi 5)
Best ,
in NANA PLAZA the cheapest bar, no pushy women just a good drink with a view over the entire plaza, straight over spanky's.
Kaosan road stay away!! marginal conditions and scam !
Don't forget to mention Above 11 (Sukhumvit Soi 11) among nice sky bars: nice view, very accessible. Not as prestigious and expensive as Lebua but very cozy. Later in the evening there is also dancing.
Baiyoke Sky Tower is I think the most 'accessible' Sky Bar, in terms of price and dress code.
If you can combine it with the clothing market around there, you will never want to see clothes again in your life. 🙂
Best time for the Sky bars is before 21.00:XNUMX, when most of the 'party lights' on the surrounding buildings go out.
Nightclub Ca La Vi Bangkok (formerly Ku De Ta) is definitely worth mentioning. At Sathorn on the 39th floor with many International DJs. Many expats and the somewhat wealthier Thai come here, unfortunately also reflected in the entrance and drink prices.
I regularly stay between Suk 3 and Asok and have visited most of the places around KSR and Siam. There is a very wide range of nightlife and something for everyone, from cheap beer to classy robbery clubs. What I regularly wonder since the 'events' of 2014 is where the army top wants to go with this (in my opinion fine) recreation image. For example, I myself once experienced how (military?) police hermetically closed off a sports bar that could not be specified and all those present had to wait two hours to be 'checked'. Drinks were no longer served and the toilets were guarded. Phones and cameras had to be turned off, but those present were all filmed. Fortunately I had my passport with me because a copy (which I would normally take with me when going out) was not accepted and fined (to be paid immediately!). I came across the following on Youtube of exactly the same situation but more recently in the Climax club on Suk 11 https://youtu.be/3wcMDdHMKt8?t=15m9s . I found the experience very moody and somehow felt threatened, a feeling I've never had before in BKK. In other words, one can put up the hippest clubs and sell entire streets as a nightlife paradise, these kinds of actions seriously detract from a hospitable feeling. Not so smart because there are countless other places both in and outside Thailand where I can spend my money on a Pitcher without being disturbed.
There is indeed a wide range. Many novices or Thailand considers think that there are only beer bars with service ladies for single men. There is indeed more. I'm having a great time. On Sunday, quite a few shops close earlier than 2.00:XNUMX am. Then midnight is often closing time. What is striking is that in Thailand things regularly change hands or move. A travel guide that many Thailand visitors can use often gives you old information.
Check Inn 99 has not existed for years.
