Demonia, exclusive S&M club in Bangkok
Today we take a look behind the scenes of the exclusive S&M club Demonia. It is located in Sukhumvit Soi 33 inconspicuously amongst a number of massage parlors in front of which are a number of ladies trying to usher customers in.
Not so with Demonia, just a boring black door where VIP guests slip in and out unnoticed and newcomers have no choice but to ring the doorbell. A few seconds later, the newcomer is looked at with a pair of piercing eyes through a metal peephole and is judged whether he meets the high standard required for entry.
Customer base
This is Demonia, an S&M bar that caters to the needs and wants of influential local hoteliers and expats. It opened about 11 years ago as the first den of hidden sexual perversion to the public but wants to remain exclusive by, for example, prescribing a simple dress code. In principle, black clothing is required from guests and it should be clear that access in a T-shirt and slippers is certainly refused. In special cases, some black clothing is available at the entrance.
The owner
The owner of Demonia is a French businessman who wishes to remain anonymous as he considers his financial and trading activities in France and the management of Demonia as two separate worlds. “It would not be good,” he said, “that my business associates find out that I own S&M club in Bangkok.”
He goes on to say: “We look for customers from the social middle and upper class, not too young and not drunk on arrival. There is no room in our club for noisy customers who drink a lot. The selection of customers is important to us, I don't need many customers but I do want good customers.”
Mamasan
The daily activities in Demonia are arranged by the mamasan, tried and tested in "life", who has already seen it all. She doesn't volunteer herself for S&M services but still gets a kick out of commanding slaves just for fun. “I send them to the Seven-11 in their boxers to buy me peanuts and Vitamin C,” she said with a devilish grin.
She runs the business with a tight hand, for both the mistresses and the customers and anyone who thinks they can mess with this little Thai woman will definitely come home with a rude awakening.
She says the majority of the clients come to be dominated like slaves. Their backgrounds are very diverse and they come not only from Thailand but from many other countries, Singapore, Japan and the United States to name a few. A surprising number of them are owners or directors of large companies or hold other high-ranking positions. They are used to handing out assignments, but now enjoy being commanded as a slave themselves. Mamasan knows a good number of Thai kingpins who visit regularly or not and of course she cannot name them. Discretion is assured.
S&M
Not everything is S&M, fetish lovers will also get their money's worth. Don't be surprised if you see a small naked man, wearing a collar, who lets himself be treated like a dog. Mamasan told about a European couple whose wife brought a complete set of ballet clothes…. for her husband!
If one is too shy to undergo or experience the S&M in an "open" company, the client can rent a room for 3500 Baht per session. A first lady drink for the mistress costs 900 Baht and then 300 Baht. In this way, the ladies can get a monthly salary of 100.000 Baht.
Dutch customer
I met a Dutch man who calls himself a regular customer because every time he comes to Thailand for business he visits Demonia. He had practiced some S&M in the past with his girlfriend at the time, but when he went to visit Demonia through word of mouth, he was hooked. This bizarre form of love was something from another world and he can no longer live without it.
He still remembers the first night in Demonia like it was yesterday. He was tied naked to a cross and beaten with a Japanese bamboo whip in front of a Japanese journalist and other visitors. “I had huge purple bruises on my butt,” he said with glee, “I couldn't sit for a week, but it was great.”
Since then he has experienced all sorts of other fantasies in Demonia. “I have been a doctor, a Japanese warrior returning from the battlefield and also remember a “journey” to a deserted island where I encountered a mermaid. It seems like there are no limits to these scenarios.
Discretion
The man from the Netherlands has a very good job in the import and export trade and if it became public knowledge that he regularly visits these kinds of places, it could seriously damage his career. In Demonia this is fully respected and discretion is the pillar for a regular clientele. Here visitors can turn all their wishes into reality, no matter how strange and twisted their thoughts may seem to an outsider, without being in the spotlight.
“I've experienced almost everything Bangkok has to offer in terms of nightclubs and bars, but this was something different for me,” he explained. “I didn't expect it to be so much fun. I can definitely recommend it to people who want something different, just out of curiosity and to get to know yourself better.”

The – high – drink prices still deserve a small explanation.
In the first place, the costs for accommodation, company and services are included. So you only have to pay the drink bill.
And secondly, there is a loyalty program that is as simple as it is attractive: Members pay only half of the prices mentioned. For 8.000 Baht (€ 215) you are a member for half a year. And for that money you get a bottle of distilled spirit, a bottle of wine, or 18 bottles of beer into the bargain.
That is also a bit of a swallow, but it makes the pain a lot more bearable. 🙂
When I look at the price list, I can't imagine “BT'ers” (Important Thai) coming here and certainly not when I look at the ladies!
Unbelievable what a hype sm has become since 50 shades of grey, that scene was there before that movie and book, but then everyone thought it was weird or dirty and now everyone suddenly wants to hang on a cross. Well, everyone has their own pleasure, shall we say.
