Bangkok, world city with best nightlife

Bangkok is the only Asian destination to rank tenth in the list of cities with the best nightlife in the world. More than 27.000 international visitors to Hotels.com chose the cities with the most vibrant nightlife.

If you suffer from insomnia or just want to experience a sizzling evening, it is best to go to New York. 'The City that never sleeps' has been chosen as the best city when it comes to nightly entertainment. Amsterdam ranks seventh worldwide.

After New York, gambling paradise Las Vegas is the number two nightlife destination in the world, followed by London in third place. Although the gold and silver go to the US, six of the top ten nightlife cities are European cities. In addition to London and Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin and Madrid are also among the world's best nightlife cities. Los Angeles and Bangkok – round out the top ten.

Top 10 cities with the best nightlife in the world (according to Hotels.com):

  • New York
  • Las Vegas
  • London
  • Paris
  • Barcelona
  • Berlin
  • Amsterdam
  • Madrid
  • Los Angeles
  • Bangkok

Unparalleled adventure

“New York and Las Vegas guarantee an unparalleled adventure,” says Alison Couper of the hotel booking site. “In Europe, it is the great mutual differences that make the cities so interesting for travelers from all over the world. The continent has a lot to offer. Think of a night out in Berlin's famous clubs, Amsterdam's floating restaurants and coffee shops or one of the many atmospheric cafés in Paris.”

Well, what are you supposed to do with this kind of research? Travel to Amsterdam this weekend and spend the night in a floating restaurant?
And Amsterdam does have a place in the top 10 and Pattaya, for example, does not?
No, I wouldn't use this list as a guideline.

@Fransamsterdam, I know that you are not allowed to touch the Thailand of the many Dutch people, because then you step on their very sensitive toes. But do you really want to put Pattaya above a city like Amsterdam? Do you really think that Pattaya, which was a meaningless fishing village about 40 years ago, but mainly because of the Americans visiting R&R, grew into a sex place, to put Pattaya above Amsterdam? I really think that Amsterdam has a slightly richer history, if only because of the Golden Age.

We are talking about nightlife here, I can't understand that a village like Amsterdam is in the Top 10, this is a joke.

I'd say Jack: Support your opinion instead of just shouting something.

Yes, we need a little more information to determine the value of this research: how is the group of respondents composed (in addition to size, also number of respondents, age, male – female, education, financial position, leisure activities), but also what is meant by nightlife? Furthermore, how was the questionnaire composed? Is there the possibility to reject this study by another study? Has the research been set up in accordance with the correct methodology? There are some loose ends as far as I'm concerned and I wonder if the outcome can be generalized to multiple groups. We also know that Bangkok nightlife is highly associated with “Hangover II” which puts Bangkok nightlife in the “not for everyone” category in my opinion.
