Sun allergy is often associated with medications and other substances. Both are excellent on antihistamines such as fenistil, ceterizine, ebastine etc. Heat rash is caused by clogged pores, so that the sweat remains in the skin. It is very common in babies, even if they are wrapped too warmly.

Those who suffer from heat rash can protect themselves by cooling, fans, cold showers, thin cotton clothing. Synthetic clothing will not work. The goal is to prevent excessive perspiration. Ointments are of little use for large surfaces. Prickley heat powders also work reasonably well.

If the heat rash is deeper in the skin, bacteria can cause infections with pustules. For details: www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heat-rash/symptoms-causes/syc-20373276

Sun allergy is often difficult to distinguish from heat rash. Sometimes hives develop, but not always. Assessment of possible use of medicines is a first step. If they are the cause, switch to other means.

Lotions, creams and even suntan lotion can also act as a trigger. In general, cheap creams, lotions and sunscreen products have fewer additives and therefore cause fewer reactions. In addition, the cheap products work just as well, or often better. Expensive products have better marketing. Same with beer. Freddy Heineken said when he talked about selling beer: 5% is quality and 95% is marketing.

A hereditary factor often plays a role in sun allergy, in other words it occurs in the family.

    Hallo,

I myself have suffered from this in the past. Until I got a tip biodermal has a special cream. Works great! I don't know how it is, but I lubricate it once or twice in advance and it gets rid of this super.

I have a serious sun allergy from a temporary tattoo. As soon as the sun shines in the Netherlands I start with anti histamine. And when I'm in Southeast Asia (the month of January) I take them twice a day.
By the way, I still have more allergies from the temporary tattoo.
    What a mess that is!

and as for clothing, I can also recommend linen clothing, which is even cooler than cotton and wears wonderfully.

I often suffer from it too. Especially in the first two or three weeks when I come back from the Netherlands.

My solution. Wash with detergent, dab with alcohol. really cleans the pores and a lotion called KELA.
I always get the lotion from an acquaintance who is a pharmacist. Always give blue antihistamine tablets with BPO on them. The combination works perfectly.
    Tablets are: Dormirax 25
    Hydroxyzine HCL 25mg
    Antihistamine, anxiolytic, hypnotics, sedatives

    Dear Doctor Vasbinder,

More than thirty years ago, during a holiday to Florida, I first suffered from sun allergies on both lower legs, it seemed as if they were on fire. The cooling of the air conditioning in the car gave some relief. An American doctor prescribed 'miracle medicines' because within 2 days I was rid of them. First had the then up and coming sunscreen P10, quite expensive and widely advertised, smeared and that was probably the trigger with me. It had never bothered before. In Thailand after a few days almost certainly suffering from heat rash. The dermatologist at the Bangkok – Pattaya hospital also calls it miliaria and the rash occurs in my groin area, inner thighs and under the armpits. Prickley heat powder unfortunately does not help enough, but after using the medicine and lotion prescribed by the dermatologist, it disappeared within a few days and it did not bother me for the rest of my stay in Thailand. Stupidly I forgot the name of it. The last time I was in Thailand, however, I went to a pharmacy at the first symptoms of the heat rash. There I got a box with 10 pieces of Zyrtec tablets, then 140 Bath and Kela lotion, 40 Bath. Zyrtec contains Cetiricin (in your article you mention ceterizine, probably the same) and the lotion contains Triamcinolone acetonide. It had a good result on me and it saved me a visit to the dermatologist. Thank you for your explanation and the link to the mayoclinic website.

You continue to sweat, but the moisture remains in the skin. That's what medicines are for.

Thank you very much for this INFO.

    Dear Doctor,

I also have this occasionally. Especially on my forearms.and then on top. (Sunny side).
It can make me “crazy” with the itch.
Then I take Zyrtec , which brings relief.

Greetings from Isaan, which yearns for water.

    Tassel.

I'm having some trouble with it for the first time. Arms and chest. I got " CETTEX " from the local pharmacy. The operation is not really optimal. Does anyone know if this drug is equivalent to "ZYRTEC".
    Dear thanks.

Indeed Cettex is the same as Zyrtec. The active substance is Cetirizine.
There are dozens of antihistamines on the market. Some make sleepy. That can be an advantage, of course, but also a disadvantage. Cetirizine, ebastine and loratadine have this property to a lesser extent.
