Personalia: man, 80 years, 180 cm, 86 kilos. Until 2000 I smoked cigars. I drink very moderately.
Medical background:
- 23 years ago 5 bypasses. Every day I now take aspent, losartan, amlopine. enaril and atorvastatin.
- Daily allopurinol against gout.
- 10 years ago I got COPD, so my mobility is now very moderate.
Six months ago, a mucus developed in the mouth, which was sticky. It lodged in the throat and retained food particles. Terrible coughing fits. In the hospital they tried nose cold and stomach ulcers as the cause. Both did nothing. A scan diagnosed cancer next to my throat. I'm almost done with radiation and chemo, but the sticky mucus is still there. Talking is hardly possible. Food can only be liquid.
What could be the cause and remedy for that sticky mucus? Ordinary remedies for too much mucus do not help.

First of all, I wish you the best of luck.
For mucus, you could try an expectorant such as acetylcysteine.
The atorvastine doesn't make much sense at your age. You can leave that out. The same applies to enalapril or losartan. Possibly leave out the enalapril and if the level is too high (higher than 160/90) some extra losartan.
If that doesn't work, my knowledge is inadequate and the oncologist will have to come to the rescue.
