Dear Martin,
Thanks for your earlier response!
Can you clarify the following: I know that you can get side effects from antibiotics, such as intestinal complaints and nausea. I have swallowed a lot, but the last treatment is already 8 months ago.
Can these side effects still occur so long after use? Since I got so many strange problems in a row and it didn't really become clear what exactly I had, you immediately think of the worst. Hence all those HIV tests. According to the doctors, not all of them were necessary, but doubt prevails.
The last time I had the Alere HIV 4th generation combo test done at a local clinic. That was more than 3,5 months after I had sexual intercourse the last time. Can you tell me whether these tests are reliable and whether the mycoplasma can influence such a test?
Thanks again for your information!
Regards,
J.
Dear J,
8 months is a long time when it comes to side effects of antibiotics, but it's not impossible.
The HIV tests here are very reliable. Thailand has a lot of experience with HIV. There are no data on influence by Mycoplasma.
Sincerely,
Dr. Maarten
