Dear Martin,
Read about placing a mat today and you advised against this. I had colon cancer surgery 6 years ago and then 3 more times, all failed, intestinal anastomotic leakage. No pain or discomfort. Now I have multiple fractures and wear a fracture band, which doesn't help much. The surgeon now wants to insert a mat of 40 by 30 cm.
What do you think about this?
I am 73 years old. Smoke, drink little, weigh 102 kilos (was 2 122 years ago). Blood pressure 120/80
Please your advice.
Regards,
E.

Dear E,
In your case I would recommend a mat because of the many scars and fractures.
That operation is going to be quite a job. This should be done by a good surgeon.
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Maarten
