Dear Martin,
Man, 69 years old, 171 cm, temporarily 80 kilos (normally 75) due to circumstances. Problems with sinus, asthma, skin, osteoarthritis, prostate and blood flow in legs. Don't smoke, drink wine now and then.
Question 1:
Autumn 2020 problems with blood in the urine and severe pain when urinating.
Diagnosis: enlarged prostate PSA 11.
Been using Firide 2mg and Tamsulosin 5mg for almost 0,4 years now
Have no more complaints, fall 2021 the PSA was 5,5, but I understood that the result may have been affected by the use of Firide.
My question: can I just (endlessly) continue taking these pills? Are there harmful long-term side effects? Or is it better, for example, to carry out an inspection every year?
Question 2:
Problem with venous flow in the legs. Suspicion of thrombosis not confirmed on examination. Since autumn 2020 I have been taking Daflon 500 mg (2 per day).
Seems to work fine too, don't have any special issues anymore. Here again the question: can I just keep taking these pills (endlessly) [package insert states a maximum of 3 months]? Are there harmful long-term side effects? Or is it better, for example, to carry out an inspection every year?
Due to COVID, I prefer to avoid doctor/hospital visits, and it seems that the doctors/hospitals also prefer not to treat patients without acute problems themselves. Just send you off again with prescriptions for the same pills.
Hence my question.
Regards,
R.
