Dear Martin,

I am a 61 year old man living in Thailand. Normally I go to the Netherlands for a period every year, but I won't do that for the time being because of the Coronaperikelen. Normally I use my medicines here, which I brought with me from the Netherlands, including Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg. With this medicine I keep my blood pressure between 125 and 130. Suppress 70. When I do not use the medicine, the pressure goes to between 140 and 155. Suppress the same.

It's about to run out and I've started using the means of GPO. It does nothing. Whether I use it or not. With and without 140 to 155 with negative pressure again equal to 70. Just to be sure, I have kept a few strips from the Netherlands. These are from the Sandoz brand. After 2 days again nice 125-130 with negative pressure 70.

My question is whether Sandoz's drug is available here. If not, you are aware of an alternative but not GPO in that case.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

K.

Specifications,

In general the GPO preparations are of excellent quality, but apparently not this time. I've looked at Sandoz and don't find it on the list for Thailand. You can try taking 25mg instead of 50mg.

There is also the possibility that you received a box from a “bad batch”.

The box says Lot and a number somewhere. Get a different number next time.

Are there no other possible causes for your slightly higher blood pressure? For example, no trust. We now know that trusting a drug improves its effect. In part, we also know why.

Incidentally, a blood pressure of 140-155 is not really something to worry about, even if the guidelines say otherwise. Unfortunately, the creators of the guidelines are paid by the industry.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Maarten
