Dear Martin,
I am 74 years old, 1,67 tall and 64 kg. My blood pressure is okay. No diabetes, no alcohol, no smoker. I have been taking clopidogrel 75mg, 1 stent LAD since 2016.
My question is, I take Hytrin 2,5mg to shrink prostate, but sometimes it's hard to find. Can I use Doxazosin 2 mg instead of Pencor 2 mg tablet, 100 tablets box? Will my blood pressure stay good? Now 110/70 sometimes 100/65.
Regards,
J.

Dear J,
Doxazosin generally results in a greater reduction in blood pressure than terazosin (hytrin).
This can be a problem with your “too” low blood pressure.
First try Tamsulosin 0,4 mg 1/2 tablet in the evening. If that does not work, then terazosin 1 mg also in the evening. If necessary, increase to 0,4 and 2 mg, respectively.
Sincerely,
Dr. Maarten
